Dear Friends of St. Louise, One of the goals for many of us dur-ing Lent is to spend more time in prayer. This is more difficult than it might first seem. The most obvious obstacle is that prayer takes time, and time is a limited, precious commodity for most of us. Yet, when we stick to the commitment to give time to the Lord, the Lord in turn will give so much more to us than we give to him. I have been reading In My Own Words, a collection of selected writings by the late spiritual author, Henri Nouwen, compiled by Robert Durback. Here is part of one of those selections taken from Nouwen’s book, Life of the Beloved:

Often you will feel that nothing happens in your prayer. You say: “I am just sitting here and getting distracted.” But if you develop the discipline of spending one half-hour a day listening to the voice of love, you will gradu-ally discover that something is happening of which you were not even conscious. It might be only in retrospect that you discover that voice that blesses you…. The movement of God’s Spirit is very gentle, very soft—and hidden. It does not seek attention. But that move-ment is also very persistent, strong and deep. It changes our hearts radically. The faithful discipline of prayer reveals to you that you are the blessed one and gives you the power to bless others. (In My Own Words, pp 32-33).

I realize that for many people, a half hour of pure silence may too tall an order. Here are some suggestions about how to make that commitment more realistic: How about turning off the radio, the television, all social devices while go-ing for a walk or while driving in the car? While it is a beautiful thing to pray in silence before the Blessed Sacrament, not eve-ryone can fit that commitment into their schedule. Try to find ways to build into your schedule each day some time to simply be silent and invite the Lord to speak to your heart. God, who is good, will give you what is good, without fail! Have a blessed remainder of the Lenten Season!

Fr. Gary Zender

No bus-ca atención.

Padre Gary Zender

St. Louise Parish is Having a Baby With the feast of the An-nunciation, St. Louise be-gins a nine month Spiritual Adoption Program culminat-ing in December with the Feast of the Nativity. Join us in spiritually adopting and praying for a mother and her unborn child whose life is just beginning.. Your Baby’s Development – Day One The sperm unites with the ovum. Fertilization, a burst

of life… and a new human being is created with a soul that will live forever. Your baby is alive. Her eye color and skin color is determined. Her hair color and texture is decided. Her DNA is in place. Your Baby’s Development - Month One By the end of the first month, your baby is 10,000 times bigger than at conception? He has developed the foundations of his brain, spinal cord and nervous system by day 20. His heart starts to beat on the 21st day and pumps his own blood through his circulatory system. Your baby is most vulnerable during these first months of life. Your baby and his mother may be threatened by poor health, poverty, malnutrition, or poor living conditions. For the mother who might be desperate, pray that the Lord of Life might move her heart to give your baby the most precious gift of all – Life.

St. Louise School News Students Go to Confession One of the benefits of attending a Catholic school is the ability to pray during the day and sometimes even receive Sacra-ments. Of course, our St. Louise Parish School students often attend Mass during school hours and receive the Eucharist, but something special each Lenten season is our students also receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In the coming weeks, all grade 3-8 students will participate in Penance Services and then individually go to Confession. Father Gary, Father Fabian, and some generous priests from the local parishes will be pre-sent to hear the children’s Confessions. Break a Leg! Dozens of our parish school students make up the cast and crew of this year’s school musical, Dear Edwina Jr. We are proud of their commitment of 5+ hours a week for the last 5 months, learning their lines, songs, and choreography! They are performing this Wednesday and Thursday night here in our par-ish hall at 6:30PM. By the way, the next time you’re in the parish hall, please notice the new curtains, stage lighting, and sound system. This was all upgraded after funds were raised at our November Auction. Not only will the new parish hall stage be perfect for our school musical, but all parish groups can use it for productions, concerts, speakers, etc

7:30AM: 9AM: 11AM: 1PM: 6PM:

Eucharistic Adoration The Church teaches, outside of Mass, the other great refuge we have from the devil and his wiles is prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. St. John Bosco further teaches, there are two things the devil is deathly afraid of, fervent communion and frequent visit to the Blessed Sac-rament.

A homilist reflecting on this Sunday’s Gospel wrote, “Human history demonstrates how infidel-ity has been added to infidelity. However, ‘God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but have eternal life’. We are present-ed this God’s plan because God is rich in mercy. Am I always faithful?” Our Parish provides opportunities before the Blessed Sacrament to renew our faithfulness.

Please join us at the April 5th, 2019, First Friday Eucharistic Adoration as journey of Lent con-tinues. Bring children, friends and family along. Jesus will be waiting for you. Pray for peace and vocation to priesthood. Individual Adoration - Following 9 AM Mass – 5:30 PM Children-led Rosary for world peace – 5:30 PM Benediction – 6 PM

First Saturday Devotion

Mother Angelica of EWTN wrote, "Mary's life was a perfect imitation of Jesus. She was hum-

ble, hidden, sorrowful and afflicted, but she also knew joys that never entered the heart of

man." What can we say of our own lives? Come and learn from her who only is called the

Mother of God and seek her help. Join us at the April 6th, 2019 First Saturday devotion. We will be praying the Rosary and reflecting on the Mysteries of Jesus’ life, all in reparation for our offenses especially against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and conversion of all of us, sinners. Bring your family and friends along. Time - 4 PM on Saturday Place – Grotto of the Blessed Virgin Mary, located between the Parish Office and Lavelle Center
