    Jimely Jopie5June 19, 1891).

As the days go by the bicy-cle is coming more and moreto the front. It is becominganactual necessity in almost everydepartment of the world's af-fairs. Emperor William ofGermany has already recog-nized its utility in hisvast military organizationand has equipped several reei- -mentswith wheels. This sug-gestion is offered to Col Mc-Lean, who is said to be think-ing of organizing a cavalrycompany.

Instead of mounted policewhy not furnish the guardiansof the peace with bicycles, thesame as is done in Chicago,New York, San Francisco andother large cities. In his re-cent report the attorney generaldilates in glowing terms on theutility of the mounted policein the outlying districts, whatis the matter wirh mount-ing them on wheels? This sug-gestion is respectfully offeredto Marshal Hitchcock and hissuperior. A good horse costsmore than a good bicycle, butirrespective of that there areseveral reasons why the wheelis the more economical anduseful of the two. Amongthem may be mentioned:

    1. Bicycles don't eat hay at$30 per ton.

    2. Bicycles don't munchoats and barleyall day long whenthey can get it, and

Bicycles don't bite nor treadon your pet corns.

Bicycles never get tired andthey don't drink.

Now there are bicycles andbicycles, of all sorts, sizes andshapes but none of them comeup to the Monarch in beauty, strength and swiftness.

It is the strongest, fastest, andmost beautiful wheel that ismanufactured, and tne wheel-men of America know it.Those in Hawaii have only totry the machine once to arriveat the same opinion.

The Monarch Bicycle Co. ismaking this year two specialgrades of wheels. We havethem both. One sells at $90and the other at $10 The$90 wheel is for those riderswho are not particular abouthaving the very lightest weights, but who want a good, service-able wheel, sold under a bind-ing guarantee, which will runeasily and wear well. The $10 jwheel is the latest pioduct inhigh grade wheels. It is ad-solut- ely

the best high gradebicycle on the market, strong, stiff, staunch, light and easyrunning and giving entire satis-faction to all who ride it. Tosum up its perfections it isthe monarcn of all wheels.

We have received the firstconsignment of a dozen ofthese wheels and they aregoing off like hot cakes. Wesold two of them this morn-ing before lunch. We haveseveral other consignments onthe way and will soon be incondition to supply the army, police and other governmentdepartments, with a few leftover for the navy when its offi-cers feel like taking a spin outto the beach. To the generalpublic we would say ."Don'tpurchase a bicycle till you haveseen the Monarch." If youdon't buy of us then there willbe no hard feelings on our part.
