Attention youth leaders in grades 6-8 and adult 4-H volunteers! Don’t
miss your chance to participate in Winter Leadership Camp 2020! It is always a
great weekend full of leadership development and fun! From teambuilding,
group facilitating, and goal setting to sledding, night hikes, and campfires, there
will be something for everyone!
Mark your calendars now for a terrific time...this year’s Winter
Leadership Camp will be held February 7-9, 2020, at Camp TaPaWingo near
Mishicot, WI.
Older youth from throughout Northeast Wisconsin will come together
at 4-H Winter Leadership camp to work on improving their leadership skills
through hands-on, interactive leadership sessions. Youth will gain a better
understanding of what it means to be a leader and how to apply being a youth
leader in their club, county, and school.
Along with leadership learning, youth will have opportunities to
participate in a variety of recreational activities that may include sledding/
tubing, snowshoeing, crazy games, and other outdoor activities.
Adult leader volunteers are needed as chaperones to support youth in
learning leadership skills and experiencing the great outdoors.
Registration can be found here: Winter Leadership Camp. Registration
deadline is Monday, January 20, 2020. However, don’t wait to register - the
camp fills up fast and you don’t want to miss this opportunity! If you have
questions on any of the above, contact Kevin Palmer, 4-H Youth Development
Educator, at 242-5448 or by email at [email protected].

4-H Art Beat! - March 13th - 15th, 2020
Created for 4-H members in grades 3-5 and their parents (parents are
not required to attend) and leaders, 4-H ArtBeat! is the introductory program
for Wisconsin 4-H Arts and Communication! ArtBeat! will be held March
13-15, 2020, at our State 4-H Camp, Upham Woods in the Wisconsin Dells.
The weekend will feature a look at a variety of arts projects including music,
drama, visual arts, arts and crafts, and more!
4-H members will explore their own creativity while discovering the
great variety of 4-H Arts & Communication experiences available to them
now and in the near future. Session leaders will be 4-H older youth, adult
leaders and 4-H staff members with a wealth of experience to share. Youth
and adult participants will rotate through a variety of sessions which are
hands-on and active and held at various sites throughout camp, including
outdoors. Both youth and adult participants stay in the cabins on cabin hill.
Camp begins Friday evening with check-in at 6:00 pm and ends Sun-
day morning at 11:00 am.
Parents are not required to attend, but are invited. Adult applicants
please note: All adults will be considered Adult Advisors (chaperones) for
the camp – if you are not already an active 4-H volunteer you must complete
the requirements to become one before camp – contact your county
UW-Extension 4-H Office for assistance. Please do so as soon as possible to
allow enough time to complete the required training and for a background
check to be completed before camp.
The fee (to be determined) will include all materials and
supplies, overnight lodging, meals and snacks. Why not get a whole group of
youth and adults together from your county for some genuine 4-H bonding
time? Transportation is NOT provided by the State 4-H Office and will need
to be coordinated on your own as a family.
Come join the excitement of this opportunity available to our most
enthusiastic and creative 4-H members!

Presenters Sought for 2020 Project Day
We want you as a presenter at Project Day 2020! We would love to
have older youth and adult volunteers share their talents with 1st – 6th grade
students from throughout Kewaunee County. Past sessions have featured
hands-on learning and activities in areas like arts and crafts, painting, animal
science, foods, woodworking, team building, leadership and much more.
Project Day is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 14 at the
Luxemburg-Casco High School. There will be a welcome around 9:45, the
first session begins at 10:00 am, and the last session ends at 2:45 pm with
lunch from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm. The program is open to youth in 1st to 6th

between sessions. If your session is more in-depth, we can combine two
sessions, which would give you a total of 110 minutes for your session.
If you or anyone you know of anyone else who could provide their
talent and teach a class, we would love to talk to you about the details and
Project Day experience. Please call Jill at (920)388-7185 or email

Member Requirements for Good Standing
As a reminder, to be a member in good standing in Kewaunee County
4-H and show as a member at the Kewaunee County Fair, you need to attend
four club meetings by May 31, 2020 and maintain your member expectations
that you signed when you enrolled in 4-H. Club meetings and project
meetings are separate. Project meetings do not count toward your club
meeting total. Members that are not in good standing will not be able to
participate as a Kewaunee County 4-H member in the Kewaunee County Fair,
WI State Fair, 4-H Leadership Trips, State 4-H activities and other similar
experiences.
Most clubs have nine to twelve meetings a year. Therefore, even if
you have to miss a few meetings due to other activities (work, practice, sports,
etc.) there should still be an ample amount of meetings for your family to
attend and meet this requirement.
The exception to this requirement is for youth in grade 13 (college)
because it is understood that those members may not be able to make it back
to the county on a regular basis to attend monthly club meetings. However,
they should remain as involved as possible during that time. In addition, grade
13 members are still expected to meet all of their project area requirements if
they would like to show that project at the Kewaunee County Fair. If you are
wondering how many meetings that you have attended this year, please
contact your club leader.
State 4-H Foundation Scholarships
Each year, the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation and generous sponsors
provide funding for educational scholarships to outstanding Wisconsin 4-H
youth. They provide these scholarships in order to show our appreciation for
your accomplishments as a result of your 4-H experiences, and to support
your future educational goals.
If you have been actively involved in 4-H, then you should consider
applying for one of the many scholarships offered by the foundation.
Applications must be word processed or typed and are usually due in
February. More information can be found at: http://wis4hfoundation.org/
scholarships/ or by calling Jill at (920)388-7185.
What are you doing in your club?
Something fun, new, exciting, interesting, educational, or helping the
community? Send us your pictures. We would love to feature some of them in
upcoming newsletter.
