Peter Luango former musical director of the Langley Ukelele Ensemble now taken over by his son Paul Luango gave a brief history of the ensemble. They have been playing in Hawaii for over twenty years with a deal made with the Sheraton Waikiki. They have been entertaining us on their visits for many years.
Kathy Higa was finally presented with her well deserved trophy as Rotarian of the Year 2018-19 as it just arrived in the mail a few weeks late. Presenter was Past President Stephen Morgan who thanked her for the many projects she volunteered in during his Presidency.
It was great to see a good turnout of our members and guests to listen to the Langley Ukulele Ensemble performance at our Wednesday meeting. The music and entertainment by this young group under the direction of Paul Luango was superb.

He handled leasing as well as construction of large office/warehouse facilities for UPS, Lockheed Martin and Hawaiian Airlines to name just a few. He decided to retire in December 2009. In February 2001, his close friend Hans Kolb brought him into the Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunset. Rich became involved with International Services and served as Director for several years before being asked to serve as Foundation Director. He is now in his 10th year in that post.
