24 hours Akhanda Kiirtana

On 2nd and 3rd September, 24 hours Monthly Akhanda Kiirtan was held at the village Ghaghra.

Since the establishment of Ananda Nagar (1964), this is the first time that we could hold an

Akhanda Kiirtan Programme in this village. Further since the murder of Dada Asiimanandji on

2nd April, 1990, we could not enter this village due to the then ruling party of West Bengal, The

Communist Party of India.

The Kiirtan started at 11 am on 2nd September 2016.Local village people mostly non-Margiis

participated with great interest and enthusiasm and also donated some money and material

voluntarily for this programme. Side by side there was mass feeding (Narayana Seva). At the

end Tattva Sabha was also done.

Prabhat Samgiita Competition On 3rd September 2016, the Prabhat Samgiita Competition was held at the Bakul Vitan Campus.

There were 69 candidates of Songs, Dance and Arts. They are from the surrounding villages of

Ananda Nagar. Local people showed interests to participate in this competition. After the

competition the prizes and certificates were distributed.

Last year two prizes were awarded by the selectors of Central Prabhat Samgiita Competition held

at Kolkata to Anandanagar; one Navaratna in Dance and one 2nd prize in Group Songs. And this

year also the first prize on A Group Dance event was captured by Anandanagar from Kolkata.

Naming Ceremony cum Solid Food Feeding Programme

On 11th September 2016 there was a naming ceremony cum solid food feeding programme at

Damrughutu village as per Ananda MargaCaryacarya. On this occasion three hour Akhanda

Kiirtan, collective meditation and Narayana Seva were performed. The villagers belong to the so

called scheduled tribe who are generally very conservative in nature. But now they accepted

Ananda Marga systems deep in heart and follow all the functions as per Ananda Marga system.

Monthly Kiirtana in Baba's Memorial On 18 September 2016 as usual monthly Kiirtan was done for three hours at Baba's Memorial

Hall. Narayana seva was accompanied.

Food for All Programme and Kiirtana organized by VSS

The Food for All, a programme of feeding poor people, is running continuously in each month by

VSS (Volunteers social Service). On 25 September 2016 this programme was held at the village

Kalyanpur near Kosangi here along with six hour Akhanda Kiirtan and Narayana Seva, organised

by Ananda Nagar VSS unit.

Ananda Praceta Memorial Football Tournament

Didi Ananda Pracet was brutally killed on 30 April, 1982 in Balleygunge , Kolkata, during the

attack by the goons of the then Ruling Party of West Bengal, The Communist Party of India. In the

memory of Didi Ananda Praceta a Football Tournament for girls has been started in the year 2014

by Girls Volunteers of Ananda Nagar. The third Didi Ananda Praceta Memorial Foorball

Tournament has been done on 30th September. Total eight tema from Anandanagar and its

surrounding have participated. The team from Batri Village was winner and the team from

Kusumtikri village became the Runner.

An Important Announcement

The long awaited Book with the history of Anandanagar and photos of Archeological places, Beauty Spots,

Tantra Piithas and different Service Projects etc., in English and Hindi languages have been published in

this month. Previously this book in Bebgali language was published in 2014. Since then several requests

were received to publish this book in English and Hindi languages also. The snap shots of the cover page,

the Table of Contents and the list of picture pages are given below. Interested person may send request to

get this book, the price of which is Rs. 100 only.

1963 The first primary school at Ánandanagar was established in 1963.

1964

a. A Junior High School was established in 1964. On the 3rd February, 1965, the Education

Department of West Bengal Government gave it recognition retrospectively from 1.1.1964.

b. Ánandanagar Abha Seva Sadan Charitable Dispensary was established in 1964.

In June 1964, a temporary branch post office was established at Baglata under Garjaypur

Post Office. It started its work at the then press cum book binding office.

c. Press and bookbinding started in 1964.

d. The Ánandanagar High School was established on 1st January 1964. On the 25th May, 1967,

the Pashchimbanga Madhya Shiksha Parishad extended recognition to it with effect from

1.1.1966.

1965 The Ánanda Marga Universal (AMUS) store was established at Ánandanagar.

1966

a) A degree college was established at Ánandanagar on 23rd of July, 1966. It was recognized by

Bardhaman University on 12th August, 1966. It was the third college in the district of Purulia.

b) A leprosy home was set up for the treatment of lepers. It was given the name of New Life

Asylum (N.L.A.)

c) The Ánandanagar Shishu Sadan (children’s home) was established for destitute children.

d) The Ánandanagar Academy of Light (AMAL) was established for handicapped children.

e) The Adult Training Centre was established.

f) The Agricultural and Dairy Farm was established.

g) ERAWS central Store (E.C.S.) workshop began working, K.G. apparatus for Ánandanagar

school was manufactured there.

1967

a) Ánanda Margar Institute of Technology was established.

b) Industry and Farm Training Centre was established

c) A hostel (Cheap hostel) where poor students could get cheap food on nominal payment was

established.

d) Dam and Irrigation Division was established

1978 – Umá Nivása was established for conducting work relating to the women’s Division of Ánandanagar.
