WELCOME BACK TO TERM THREE I hope everyone had a relaxing holiday ready for another exciting term. Special welcome to our new students and families. We have NAIDOC Day, STEM Day, Musical, Athletics Carnivals, Book Parade and Education Week activities in addition to our regular days.

SRC MUFTI On the last Friday of term, the SRC mufti raised $385 towards our playground update- what a great effort!

PLAYGROUND UPDATE and BLOCK B Block B roofing was completed in the holidays and KG and KK are now back in their rooms to start Term Three.

Our playground upgrade was begun in the holidays, we can’t wait until it is completely finished and our students can enjoy playing and using the new equipment/spaces.

Cross Country Sydney North Representatives Jamison, Marli, Ava, Keira, Luke Central Coast Dance Festival MC- Lily KINDERGARTEN 2020 ENROL NOW for Kindergarten 2020. Please pick up an enrolment pack from the office. SPORT IN SCHOOLS The Sport in Schools program for Kindergarten to Year 2 begins today. Years 3-6 will be involved in the program in Term Four. Our K-2 carnival at Davistown Waterfront will be run by Sport in Schools on Friday 16 August, weather permitting. DISCO YEAR 6 FUNDRAISER Due to the roof work, our disco last term was postponed, with the busy Term 3 timetable, the next disco will be the Year 6 fundraiser on Wednesday 31 July. NAIDOC We will celebrate NAIDOC Day on Friday 2 August. Students can wear Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander mufti and bring in a gold coin donation to support Cathy Freeman’s Foundation to assist remote indigenous students. Black, red, yellow, blue, green or white and enclosed shoes. No singlet tops. There will be a smoking ceremony and assembly sharing projects from each class that have been completed over the week. A BBQ– sausage sizzle- lunch will also be provided. EDUCATION WEEK Week Three, Term Three (5-9 August) is Education Week. We begin the week with our dancers and choir performing at Erina Fair in The Hive in the morning and a display of quality work will be up at Erina Fair for the week. Our annual Book Parade and Open Day will be on Wednesday 7 August from 10am until 12:30pm. The book parade will begin after recess. If your child is leaving at the end of the term or if you are changing contact details, please advise the office as soon as possible. PAYMENTS If you haven’t paid for your learning pack from Term One please do so this week otherwise invoices will be sent home. Brisbania PS is still accepting voluntary contribution payments if you haven’t paid too. One child- $40, two children- $60 and three children- $70. ENROL NOW FOR KINDERGARTEN 2020 Do you have a child starting school in 2020? Please register at the office and pick up your information pack. If you have friends or neighbours with children who will be in Kindergarten next year, please let them know. Kindergarten numbers impact on the whole school structure each year, so the earlier we know Kindergarten numbers the easier it is to plan teachers, classes and rooms needed in 2020. Mrs Duruz and her 2019 Kindergarten team will begin transition visits to preschools soon. Our Headstart program will be held on the first 5 Fridays of Term 4 - 18 October, 25 October, 1 November, 8 November and 15 November with our Headstart Parent Information Morning on 18 October @ 9:30am.

I hope that you all had a good holiday and are ready for Term 3. If you are up at school in the next few weeks you will be able to see the very exciting development that happened during the holidays. Work began on our new play space and, although not finished, the area has already been completely transformed. This project has been in the pipeline for over 4 years so it is incredibly exciting to see the fruition of all our hard work. The money raised from our fete last year as well as from this year’s fundraisers have been used to pay for the play space. Classes will also be able to use the stage area as an outside learning space. Hopefully work will be complete by the end of this week. At the end of last term, Casey’s Toys catalogues were sent home with the students and there is a $5 voucher that can be used by the 31 July. Our next P&C meeting is on Tuesday 20 August at 7pm in the staffroom. Please come along if you’re free. The next fundraising meeting is on Tuesday 6 August at 7pm in the staffroom.
