Welcome 2015 Kinder students and families: Our 2015 Kinder students have their first orientation day tomorrow Tuesday 28 October, commencing at 11.15am. Other orientation visits will occur on Wednesday 5 November and Thursday 13 November. There will be a welcome BBQ for 2015 Kinder students and their families on Thursday 13 November after the third orientation visit. Welcome to the Eleebana Public School learning community!

Won’t Be At Eleebana Public School in 2015? If your children are definitely NOT going to be at Eleebana Public School in 2015, could you please let the office know as soon as possible please? We are now planning our enrolment numbers for classes in 2015, and need to have an accurate estimate of our numbers.

2015 Student Enrolments: We are now being asked to provide anticipated enrolment numbers for 2015. We are particularly interested in securing our 2015 Kindergarten enrolments as the Kinder orientation meetings are organised for later in Term 3. All students who are 4 ½ to 6 years of age are entitled to start school in 2015 in our Kindergarten classes. If you have students who are in this age group, or know of families of students in this age group, or any neighbours who currently attend other schools and would like to attend Eleebana PS in Kinder to Year 6 in 2015, could you (and tell them to) please contact the school office for an application form for enrolment. Thank you everyone.

Canteen Volunteers Urgently Needed: Due to illness and work commitments, we are currently experiencing some shortfalls in volunteer numbers at the canteen. Annie has worked almost singlehanded on a number of occasions to keep the canteen open.

If you are able to volunteer on canteen, Annie would love to see you either at the canteen or through the office. Without volunteers, we will need to look at closing the canteen(like last Tuesday) or on days where it can’t be staffed.

Parking: Please avoid parking in the driveways of local residents as this can cause great inconvenience for them. It is timely to remind community members to avoid parking in no stopping or no parking zones around the school as there are significant fines for doing so.

NOTE: Please do not park in the disabled parking facility near the entry gate to the staff carpark on Ian Street unless you have a Disabled Parking Permit and have a disability. Thank you everyone.

Ian Graham, Principal

Deputy Principal’s Report

Raising good digital citizens: We're the first generation of parents responsible for equipping our children with digital citizenship skills. That is, how to use technology safely and responsibly, and how to evaluate, manage and use the information and tools they find online.

Find out more: http://www.schoolatoz.nsw.edu.au/technology/using-technology/raising-good-digital-citizens

Congratulations Jasmyn Lockett: Last Wednesday and Thursday, Jasmyn and her Australian team competed at the World Aerobic Championships in Prague. Jasmyn's team placed 7th in the world behind! Jasmyn wished to thank the EPS community for their support and financial assistance in helping her achieve her dream.

Spotlight Photo Order Forms: Photos taken at the Spotlight rehearsal are on display in the Staff room window. Order forms will be sent home with students today.

EPS Parents Can Now Make Online Payments: It is now possible for parents to make online payments to the school for amounts owing for students, via a secure payment page hosted by Westpac. Payments can be made using either a Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card. The payment page is accessed from the front page of the schools website http://www.eleebana-p.schools.nsw.edu.au by selecting ‘$ Make a payment’

Items that can be paid include voluntary school contributions, subject contributions and excursions. There is also a category called ‘OTHER’ this to cover items not covered in the previous headings.

When you access the $ Make a payment you MUST enter: • the students name, and • class and reference number OR • the students name, and • date of birth.

Page 3: Monday 27 October - Term 4 Week 4 Calendar Day …...Monday 27 October - Term 4 Week 4 Principal’s Report Times Tables for this week: The following tables will be the focus: Years

These details are entered each time you make a payment as student information is not held within the payment system. There is also the option to enter the Student Registration Number and Invoice number if you are aware of them, these are optional fields.

This is a secure payment system hosted by Westpac to ensure that your credit/debit card details are captured in a secure manner, these details are not passed back to the school.

You have the ability to check and change any details of the payment before the payment is processed. Receipts can be emailed and/or printed.

Details of the payments are passed daily to the school where they will be receipted against your child’s account. As a receipt has been issued from the payment page a further receipt will not be issued by the school.

For any enquiries regarding the Online Payment process please contact the School Administration Office.

Great things I saw last week: Congratulations to our primary choir under the wonderful direction of Mrs Dezius who won the unison section of Choralfest. The Great Bookswap conducted Mrs Rocco was also a huge success.

Have a great week.

Dr Carl Leonard

Library News

Congratulations to Lily Ferguson 4/5F who is the first person to complete next year’s Premier’s Reading Challenge. Lily definitely takes charge of her own learning and has been reading consistently since the Challenge finished in August. Reading Logs have now been issued to all students, if your child has not received one please come to the library after checking with the class teacher.

For those parents who have come into the library to see the new ottomans which were to be purchased from donations made on Dedication Day during Education Week, ordering them has been delayed but they will be here before the end of the school year.

Those who read succeed.

Thanks, Mrs Forbes

The Great Book Swap

I would like to thank the Eleebana Public School community for the wonderful contribution to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation ‘Great Book Swap’. All the costumes looked amazing on both students and staff and the amount of book donations was overwhelming. All money raised will be going towards the foundation, which purchases books and Literacy resources for Aboriginal children in remote communities across Australia. I would love to personally thank the SRC and several members of 5R; Samuel Haren, Jaida Price, Erin Deer, Aidan McDonald and Bridie Newell, for taking on the responsibility of sorting out all the books, setting up the Hall and running the book stall on the day. Without their help this would not have been such a success. There are plenty of books left over and if your child is interested I’m more than happy for book sales to continue this week for a gold coin donation. Books are currently being kept in 5R and purchases will be available at recess and lunch time. Thank you all once again, Kahlia Rocco

Unfortunately, she missed out on the National Championships by one position. Well done Kaitlyn on being the 4th best, 800M senior girl, in NSW. Nathan May
