CHARITABLE ACTIVITY- Visit to old age home
As a part of social welfare activity, Department of Management Studies,
St Mary’s college Thrissur Visited St, Joseph’s old age home, Pullazhi on
7th November 2017.A team of thirty five students and two faculties interacted
with inmates. A contribution was collected and given to the authority. Students
collected many daily usable items like toothpaste, soap, bath towels etc. Those
were handed over to Sr.Saly, Mother Superior of St, Joseph’s old age home
Pullazhi. Small cultural program was performed by our students for the
inmates. The few hours spent there was a heart touching experience for the
students.

CHARITABLE ACTIVITY- Karunadhram

As a part of raising a team of future managers, the department decided to be a part of
the divine social service activities initiated by the college. The most important among
these activities is the “KARUNADRAM” program of giving food packets to the
hunger and needy. It was on July 7th and 24th November 2017 that our students were
ready with the food packets for this mission. Some brought the packets from their
homes, while some got it from canteen by paying for it. There were 100 food packets
on both days. Their enthusiasm was evident in collecting the packs and arranging it in
cans to be carried to the place of distribution.
This program definitely brought about a sharing mind set within the students. They
understood that their little deeds of kindness mean a lot to the needy people of the
society.

ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION- Cleaning session
As a part of Environment day celebration, the students of Department of
Management Studies organized a cleaning session. The three batches of BBA
worked hand in hand to clean the department, classrooms, and staircase on 2nd
August 2017. The session helped in creating awareness among the students
about keeping their environment clean and hygiene.

ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION- collage making competition
On 2nd August 2017 Department of Management Studies conducted collage making
competition. It was organized to promote the awareness among students of preserving
the environment. Around 15 students participated from various departments. Prizes
were distributed by Mr. Christo George, during the inaugural ceremony of the
Association of Management Studies. First prize was bagged by Miss. Alena Joy from
Department of Management Studies.

L'ARIA FRESCA AND SWATCH BHARATH
On 10th October 2017, we the Department of Management Studies actively
Organized a cleaning program as part of Swatch Bharath celebrations. Students
cleaned the college Premises. The staff members of the department also eagerly
participated in the same.
Plastic litters were collected separately to convey and assure that our campus is
maintained plastic free.

MANAGEMENT FEST
St, Mary’s college, Thrissur has organized its second Management Fest“KARMIN-
2017”on November 17th, 2017. The name “KARMIN” means the performer of an
action aimed at discovering the hidden talents of Management students.

It was a one day Intercollegiate Competition inviting and attracting the finest talent
from various Institutes/Colleges. The program was inaugurated by
Sri .Adv.V.S. Sunil Kumar (Honorable Minister For Agriculture, Government Of
Kerala)
The various programs of the fest were Maganizo (HR Game), Vasvra (Business Quiz)
Estabaida (Debate) Mark-le-Carte (Marketing Game) Volkstanz (Spot Dance) .They
were participated by students from 30 colleges. Prizes were given away by Principal
Dr. Sr. Margaret Mary.
ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION
On 20th September 2017, Department of Management Studies organized the
inaugural ceremony of the association for the year 2017-18. It was inaugurated by
Mr. Christo George, CEO and MD of Hykon Group of Companies and President of
Thrissur Management Association at 11 AM in Jubilee hall.

After the inauguration, there was an inspirational talk by Mr. Christo on how he
landed on his success platform. The talk was really inspiring to the students.
STUDY TOUR 2017-18
Mysore, Bangalore, Coorg

Department of Management studies organized a Study Tour on 14th to December 18th
2017 at Mysore, Bangalore and Coorg. 32 students and two faculty members, Miss.
Shemi Varghese and Mrs. Reshmi P Ravi accompanied the students. Tour started at
8.30pm and reached Mysore at 5.00am.
We visited Mysore Palace, Chamundeswari temple, St Philomina’s Church and
Brindavan Garden on the first day . On the second day, we headed to Bangalore,
where we had a short journey in Bangalore Metro train . We visited Lal Bhagh, Iskon
temple, Cubbon Park , Garuda Mall and commercial street. Next day, we travelled to
Coorg to visit Golden temple, Kishkinda Bonsai and butterly garden, bamboo forest
and had the wonderful experience of river rafting. Tour proved very informative and
refreshing for the team.

Career guidance is critical if young people are to raise their aspirations and capitalize on the
opportunities available to them. Every young person needs high-quality career guidance to make
informed decisions about their future. Good career guidance is a necessity for delivering
technical education reforms and is a vehicle for social justice: those young people without social
capital or home support suffer most from poor career guidance.
OUR OBJECTIVES
To develop relations between University and Employment Sector in a mutually beneficial
way.
To help graduates to choose and proceed on an optimal career path, based on the students
ability, desire and available opportunities.
To help graduates obtain an orientation to the employment sector and develop Transferable
Skills such as effective communication skills, Leadership skills, Teamwork skills, and
management skills so that they will become productive and efficient members of the work force.
To connect with private and public sector organizations to find out about existing job
opportunities, bring them to the notice of graduates and direct the most suitable applicants to the
organization.
To help each student become aware of their talents and abilities and how best to utilize
these talents and abilities so as to optimize their engagement with education and to reach
their optimum potential.
To assist each student in the identification and exploration of various educational and
career opportunities open to them in both second level and post second level.
To enable students to grow in independence and to take responsibility for their own
selves, their learning and their careers.
To assist in the provision of information so that students may make informed decisions aware of
possible consequences and implications
Assist services and equipped life skill as a part of career enrichment program in and arranged
talks and workshop, seminars on personality development, interview techniques, campus
placement, talk on current issue.
And also PSC Classes, IAS Coaching classes conducted in college.

On 25 November 2017, St.Mary’s college, Thrissur in collaboration with Jain University ,
Bangalore had conducted a career discovery and guidance session by Prof. Abraham Philip
and Prof Manvendra Sharma (Forensic Science Department of Jain University Bangalore).

On 27/09/2017 - Career guidance cell of ST.Marys college, Thrissur and Ecole Hôtelière
Helvétique (EHH). EHH or Ecole Hôtelière Helvétique is an authentic SWISS owned and
managed Hospitality and Tourism educational institution, Affiliate of Lemania Swiss Group
of Schools, Founded in 1908, Lausanne, Switzerland. EHH conducted a career guidance talk to
the degree students of the college to make them aware and open up path for them, to start their
career in the hospitality stream. Around 250 students from various departments participated in
the session. The session was lead by Dr. Fauz Gataby, the executive board member of EHH.

On 26 th July 2017 Career guidance cell of St.Marys college, Thrissur organized an orientation
class by Frankfinn Institute of Air Hostess Training for Degree students.They given
information and opportunities in the Aviation, Travel and tourism, Hospitality and Customer
servive.The presentation section was presented by Mr. Jithin Joseph- Center Head(Frankfinn
Institute of Air Hostess Training) informative related to the fied.

The IDBI recruitment was conducted in the college on 22/9/2017 . It was headed by Miss.
Aswathy Shaji( Team Leader) and Miss. Hinduja (Team leader) from IDBI Federal Life
Insurance co ltd, Coimbatore.

TVS Training & Services Ltd in Chennai in collaboration with Axis Bank is presenting a
unique opportunity to start a career with Axis Bank has conducted campus recruitment drive on
14 th February 2018 in St Mary’s College –Thrissur .The placement drive for the Position
BDE - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE (Sales & Marketing Account Opening
Department) was conducted in college for passout students and passing out.

the federal bank Speak for India - district level Debate competition organised at St.Marys
college .

On 19th August 2017 organised an all Kerala recruitment drive in ST.MARYS COLLEGE,
THRISSUR. The drive was conducted by the WIPRO in collaboration with WIPRO
INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT SCHOOL (WIMS), which is a work integrated
learning programme offered by WIPRO.

On 16/01/2018 Career guidance cell of St. Mary’s college, Thrissur organized a Seminar in
association with The Institute of Cost Accountants of India Southern India Regional Council –
CMA Thrissur chapter on topic “CMA the opportunity and scope” by Dr..Mayil Murugan
(Chairman –Head – Department of commerce – The Madura college, Madrai) at 2.30 pm to 1..30
pm in Chavara hall.

On 14 th July 2017 Career guidance cell of ST.Marys college, Thrissur organized a talk on
topic” Knowledge guidance to civil service exam ” by Mr. Nazai Nazar(Faculty-DATA
Academy for civil service). He describe the motivational factors and personal struggles of
IAS,IPS aspirants, and he have a strong message for all the serious aspirants. And he offered the
IAS,IPS coaching classes in all Saturdays for IAS aspirants in college. PSC coaching classes was
conducted in every 4 days in the week in a academic year. And it also Benefits all PSC job
aspirants and banking career aspirants.
