2015 APS Report

We would like to thank you for the grant which made it possible to organise various activities for

both young and old. The followings are activities conducted during the course of the project with

your support.

February:

As part of our Let's Move project, our first activity for the year was to organise get together with the

a group called New Generation. The activities include cooking, games, dance and drumming. This

took place at one of the studios located at Kulttuurikasarmi, Vaasa.

March:

As part of our collaboration with the Red Cross, we organised workshops and performed during this

year Against Racism campaign in Pohjanmaa. More info can be found here:

As part of our effort to showcase different culture, we put together food from different cultures on

restaurant day. Some of the country represented include Finland, Sweden, Ghana, Nigeria and

Kenya. In collaboration with some of our partners, we organised and participated in the annual

Market of Possibilities in Vaasa.

In continuation of our Let's Move Project, we collaborated with Vaasan Vapaa-aikavirasto ja

Nuoriso-osasto during the Give Me 5 project. Some of the schools that participated include Variska

Koulu, Vaasan Lyseon Lukio and Nummen koulu. This was a whole week event with various

activities design to the attendees active. Our workshop of dancing and drumming had most

attendance of 30 pupils of which 65% were females. We also performed for the kids after the

workshop.

Performance at Vaasa Market of Possibilities

At Soini, we organized workshops for both children and adults. The children were of different

background so was the adults. There were a total about 40-50 of which 60% were children. A

June:

The month of June took us to Korsnäs and Lapua as part of the project were we perform and

organized workshops for both young and adults. More info:

July:

Kpanlogo Yede ry. organised our annual festival called AGOO. The event brought artist from all

over Finland and beyond. Kpanlogo Yede ry. organised this event to create understanding, tolerance

and respect for other cultures in Finland. Activities include music, dance, food and workshops. The

festival also gives opportunity to those who participated in our workshops and project to showcase

August:

Workshops at Ruukinkartano senior home. We organised an integration workshop and seminar

during Night of Arts in Vaasa as part of our Let's Move project.

September:

Dance and workshop for new refugees located to Vaasa. This took place The Ritz, Vaasa. Some of

the refugees that participated were from Iraq, Iran and Syria.

October:

Participated in World Day Celebration. This is an event to promote diversity and integration.

November:

During the month of November, we organised Afro dance for beginners. The idea was to provide an

atmosphere for individual do dance while having fun and exercising as part of our Let's move

project. The turn up was wonderful and people did enjoyed themselves.

Our biggest achievement for the month was organising '' Naisten Ihana Ilta'' with Vaasanturvakoti.

Our partnership put some smiles on some of the wonderful women experiencing abuses in their

lives. This partnership was a success and we plan to repeat it.

We also took part in this year Syysmarkkinat at Tammitarkano senior home. The activities includes

workshop and a pop-up market. The workshop was design to offer the caregivers joy and moral to

continue the wonderful service they are providing for the seniors.

As part of mental week in Vaasa, we joined our partners at Vaasan Seudun Yhdistykset and

Pohjanmaan Kriisi Keskus to put up activities to promote healthy life style.

Finally for the month, we organized a wonderful workshop with lots of activities at the newly built

senior home in Vaasa - Himalaya. The activities include singing, drumming, dancing and cooking

to give the seniors a taste of Africa. It was an experiment to see how we could fuse both Finnish and

African culture together to achieve something unique. This concept was very successful that we

plan to extend it to other senior homes. More detail is publish in Vaasa City info magazine. We will

send you some copies.

December:

We arranged together with Vaasa Parkinson Kerho workshops and performance for their members.

Even with this medical condition, the members attitude towards dancing and drumming was

exceptional.

The year ended on a good note for us at Kpanlogo Yede ry. This is because the City of Vaasa

recognised our contribution to promoting multicultural integration in the region. This took place

during the Finnish independence day celebration.

A special thank you goes to the city of Vaasa for acknowledging the efforts of our work in helping

enhance multicultural activities within this society. We also say a big thank you to all the

institutions that provided us with the financial support for helping us make a difference in the

society. Without your support, we would have not been able to accomplish the goals we set for

ourselves for the year.
