for Olympic Gold Medalistfor Olympic Gold Medalist

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - When

    Olympic Gold Medal Gymnast

    Gabrielle Douglas needed a photo

spread for her latest book, she turned

to a photographer based in her home-

town for the job. IFPO photographer

Keith Cephus was selected as the

    exclusive photographer for her book

Raising the Bar. Cephus photos are

featured on the front and back covers

    and throughout the book.

    When Cephus saw Douglas make

history at the 2012 London Summer

Olympics, he quickly drummed up an

idea to congratulate the two-time gold

medalist and add her to his portfolio.

As he watched history unfold, he sent

a Facebook message to Douglas. On

    behalf of Keith Cephus Photography,

I would like to give you a complimen-

tary photo shoot to let you know how

much we appreciate you in Hampton

    Roads, Virginia, he said.

A little more than one year later,Cephus portfolio includes more than

6,000 photos of Douglas. He has cap-

tured some of her most prized

    moments since the Olympics, includ-

ing the moment when she received a

    congressional award in Richmond,

    Virginia. He also photographed the

    ceremony when Virginia Beach gave

Douglas the key to the city. Cephus

    remains amazed

    by his new-

    found relation-

    ship with Dou-

    glas and her

    team -- espe-

    cially since she

never saw his Facebook offer! It was

God. It was a blessing, because when

I made the offer, I didnt know the

    opportunity would really come,

Cephus said. It turned out to be the

    opportunity of a lifetime.

The chance to add Douglas to his

    portfolio actually started with her

    mother, Natalie Hawkins. When

Hawkins was nominated for an award,

    NBA Referee Tony Brothers called

Cephus to photograph the event. By

the end of the photo shoot, Hawkins

    was impressed enough with Cephus

and his team to put her daughters

photo needs in his hands. After

    building a great relationship withNatalie, she trusted me with Gabby;

therefore, she gave me the opportunity

to do a photo shoot with her daughter,

so it was truly a blessing and an honor

to be a part of the documentary of

Gabbys life, Cephus said. He didnt

    simply capture Douglas the gymnast.

He was also able to capture the glam-

orous side of Douglas for the book.

    Cephus credits his national and

international success to not only his

talent, but his tenacity, strong work

ethic, and willingness to build strong

    relationships with his clients. People

want to know if they can trust you.

Thats the key. If they cant trust you,

it doesnt matter what your skill sets

    are, Cephus said.

A retired Navy Chief Petty Officer,

Cephus fell in love with photography

during his first tour of duty in Japan.

He joined IFPO on January 15, 1989

and has been active since day one. He

often offers workshops and plans to

    sponsor a photography camp for

underprivileged children. He alsospeaks to groups in the community

    about photography and business. The

New York native also serves on the

Academic Review Board for the Art

Institute of Virginia Beach and is a

member of Wedding and Portrait Pho-

    tographers International and Profes-

    sional Photographers of America in

    addition to IFPO.

Olympic Gold Medal Gymnast GabrielleDouglas chose IFPO member Keith

Cephus of Virginia Beach, Virginia as theexclusive photographer for her book

    Raising the Bar.

By Henry Smith IFPO, Warwick, New York

How To Make A Good Im-PRESS-ion

YOUNG KELLY CLARKSON IN CONCERT AT

    BETHEL WOODS (WOODSTOCK) HENRY SMITH

It has been 24 years since I was

    first introduced to the Interna-

    tional Freelance Photographers

Organization, Todays PhotographerMagazine and American Image Press

in 1990. The third component, IFPOs

Press Program, is what got me hooked.

    I distinctly remember flipping through

the pages of the magazine to find a

    double-page ad with the following

words that seemed to reach out to the

very core of the type of photography

that I was so keenly interested in:

    PRESS CREDENTIALS THAT

    REALLY WORK!

I had shot my first press event

twelve years earlier in college. The

college just had a new Observatory

built and there was an official Dedica-

    tion Ceremony complete with college

    officials and local politicians including

guest of honor keynote speaker, the

(then) Mayor of New York, Edward

Koch! Since I was on the yearbook

staff, I had access to this event and

others. But after college, there were

    literally no organizations that would

offer press credentials, unless Ienrolled in a traditional degree bearing

    Photojournalism Program.

Being a Natural and Social Science

    (Biology, Psychology) major and

wanting to work in science education,

I had no desire to enroll in such (pho-

    tographer/reporter) programs to obtain

    press credentials.

It stood to reason, that since I

already had a strong background in my

    favorite hobby of photography,

without having to endure an ardu-

ous photojournalism curriculum, Ishould enroll in a program that

offers immediate use of its press

credentials. So, when I saw that

    Todays Photographer Magazine

    promised PRESS CREDENTIALS

    THAT REALLY WORK my ini-

tial reaction was it sounded too

good to be true, but then I thought

I am DEFINITELY willing to try

this Press Program! So I read the

ad, several times, then I cut out the

    mail-in application and submitted

    them for simultaneous member-

ship in IFPO and its Press Creden-tials Program.

    About two weeks later I

received a large, thick, tan enve-

    lope. Inside, were two cardstock

sheets with IFPO IDs and Press

    IDs, badge clips, laminate sleeves,

    assembly instructions, order forms,

letter of welcome, Code of Ethics,

    and an accreditation letter from

Vonda Blackburn, Editor in Chief! I

quickly perused the letters, set them

aside, and went straight for the

instructions on how to assemble my

new press pass. In no time I had a

    wearable press credential.

By todays standards, my first press

pass didnt look all that impressive

after all, it was only a small credit card

sized ID with simple black text on a

plain white background and a small

passport style photo of myself. It was

around Thanksgiving, so I figured Iwould try this Press Pass That Really

Works on a tough barrier a police

line at the Macys Thanksgiving Day

    Parade in New York City.

Armed with my professional Minol-ta film camera and lens, I nervously,

    and excitedly showed my American

Image Press Credential to a police

officer who let me in right past the

barricades and onto the street where

    the parade participants were marching!

It was official as my welcome letterBRET GARDNER OF THE NY YANKEES SWINGS ANDMISSES DURING AN EXHIBITION GAME VS THE ARMYBLACK KNIGHTS AT WEST POINT, NY. HENRY SMITH

    ASSOCIATION OF VOLLEYBALL PROFESSIONALS

AVP KICK OFF 2014 SEASONBy Frank and Brenda Lamica IFPO

    St. Petersburg, FL

Every year IFPO tries to launch at least one major program based on what we've

learned from experience and requests from IFPO member photographers working in the

field. The new USPRESSCORPS.ORG Press Program is the latest expansion of IFPO

press programs which were originally launched in 1984. We encouraged and received a

tremendous amount of feedback in the past year which was the basis for the format of

    the new USPRESSCORPS.ORG Press Program.

The recurring theme seemed to be that many venues around

the world now require press photographers to show more than

one press card. To meet those requirements and other considera-

tions, IFPO expanded the press programs to include a new, elite

US Press Corps program which issues a Press Hard Card -- covet-

ed by most press photographers. USPRESSCORPS.ORG will be permanently limited to

only 1500 experienced IFPO press photographers.

The new USPRESSCORPS.ORG Press Credentials serve 3 purposes:

    1) Press hard cards are now issued by most respected media organization and are

expected at most major venues. The photo hard card symbolizes the highest

level of credentials and presents a positive image for the serious press photog-

    rapher.

    2) Many venues, especially for professional sports, are now asking for at least

two press cards in order to be considered for access to the event. The hard card

is expected to elevate the prestige of the photographer and will certainly epito-

mize the preeminence of the issuing organization.

    3) Press hard cards with the photo placed in the manufacturing process are the

most recognized cards for serious photographers. They cannot be duplicated

effectively and, therefore, command respect whenever presented. IFPO now

has the technology to turn almost any photo into a professional head shot forthe production process.

The USPRESSCORPS.ORG program is specifically designed to enhance the stature

of IFPO press photographers and to meet the expectations of press officials and law

enforcement internationally. In the near future only press hard cards will be recognized

    at most venues.

Qualified IFPO photographers have been notified of their status and invited to join

USPRESSCORPS.ORG. If you have not been notified and believe you qualify, contact

IFPO customer service at 336-468-1138 or email [email protected].

Fact-based, well-documented, unbiased press coverage may be more important today

than almost any time in history. With major newspapers folding monthly and others cut-

ting publishing schedules there is soon going to be vacuum to be filled. Also, the main-

stream media is either left or right leaning and true journalism seems to be in jeopardy.

Since 1984 IFPO Press photographers have covered some of the most high profile

events in the world including the Inauguration of Presidents Barack Obama and George

    W. Bush, the Chinese Protest March in Tiananmen Square in 1989, the 1995 bombing of

the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City and the 9/11 Terrorist Attack of the

World Trade Center in New York in 2001. Thousands of sports and entertainment events

and hundreds of other lesser events are covered everyday in the most populated cities of

the world as well as the most remote regions by IFPO press photographers.

The mission of the USPRESSCORPS.ORG is to create a core of 1500 top notch press

photographers to provide comprehensive coverage that is factual and in context directly

to major news outlets for distribution. For more information contact IFPO at 336-468-

    1138 or email [email protected]

An IFPO Exclusive Interview with Bernard

    (Buddy) Bregman - Space Engineer

...to get what you want, you just need to ask and be persistent.

You may not encounter a Buddy Bregman but in every communitythere are interesting people with stories to tell.

By Jim D. Fermo, Ph.D, IFPO

Once a month several men friends and I meet and take the subwayto different parts of the Los Angeles area and have lunch and do citytours. Last month Bernard (Buddy) Bregman happened to join thegroup as a newcomer. I began inquiring about his profession. When he started talking, I was justfloored by his experiences.

I explained IFPO and my wonderful years as a member and asked if I could have a private interviewwith him. He said, I'll do one better. He invited me and my grandson to the Science Center in Los

Angles. Since I was a member of the IFPO Press, Buddy asked the Director if he could bring us in for aprivate tour and pictures before the crowds arrived. The Director approved. The next thing I knew we had an appointment at the California Science Center prior to it being

open to the public, and a personal interview with Bernard "Buddy" Bregman. There was so muchknowledge exchanged that I could have written a book filled with his exciting life's stories and picturesfrom the center. The interview concluded two days later when I was invited to his home. In his privateoffice I shot his portrait and viewed the many awards of his accomplishments, pictures of astronautsand rocket displays along with other space memorabilia he had gathered over the many years.

I though this article was important to share with other members of IFPO for two main reasons.First, to get what you want, you just need to ask and be persistent. Just as in Buddy's case yourdreams can be your reality. Second, over the years my IFPO credentials when presented have gained

admission to a great variety of venues both here and abroad.I am a firm supporter of IFPO and believe that an organization that provides so much support tophotographers and the advancement of our craft deserves the ultimate support from its members.Although I have several press credentials, I really use only one when I travel.

Warmest Regards to Vonda Blackburn and the entire team at IFPO. Keep up the great work.Jim D. Fermo, Ph.D.

P.S. I really enjoy the actual magazine immensely.

neer are too numerous to mention in

one article. His lifes dreams have

been fulfilled and his goals successful-

ly accomplished. Few if any know of

Bernard Bregman as his merits have

been achieved with a quiet humility in

    the space program.

    One of Buddys exciting projects

was his work on the proposal for astro-

    naut interaction and cargo payload

integration. His area of expertise for

the proposal was the conceptual design

of the remote arm used by the space

shuttles to deliver and bring back

objects from the far reaches of space.

    The Space Shuttle Endeavour

recently arrived in Los Angeles and

was transported to the Science and

    Space Museum. Another exhibit there

is the robotic arm that Endeavour and

the other space shuttles used to

retrieve items from space and launch

    satellites - another Bregman success

Today Buddy has new goals. He is

    determined to educate and excite

young people. He leads by example

that there are no limits to what one can

    achieve with only some imagination,

Many times over the years a

    photographer has called or

written to report that his or

her photos have been used without permis-

sion, or with permission but without pay-

ment, photo credit or other related prob-

lems. In ninety-nine percent of the reports

the problems could have been avoided by

using a cover letter or a simple agreement

in writing or using an IFPO Business

    Form.

The following steps should provide pro-

    tection for most situations.

    1) Copyrights are inherent to the photogra-pher. However, an inventory list of

    images with the copyright notice

(Ex:2014) is a friendly reminder that

the work is protected by copyright laws.

Also a short notice such as, All rights

    reserved could be added.

    2) Each time a photo or digital image

leaves your possession, it should be

accompanied by signed and dated per-

mission for use with terms and condi-

tions stated. This is the first step to a

contract for use -- even if no payment is

involved. KEEP A COPY FOR YOUR

    FILES.

    3) Digital images require even more pro-tection. NEVER send your original

files. Not even just for someone to con-

sider. Send a copy of digital images in

very low resolution along with text files

of the first two items above.

    4) Follow up by phone or email within 5-8

business days to see if your images

arrived and if there is interest etc. Men-

tion that complete information is in the

    package.

    5) ALWAYS send a postage paid return

envelope when submitting by mail if

you expect your work to be returned.

    6) Submissions by email are just out

there in an unknown domain. It is

much safer to mail a disc with your

name and copyright notice on the disc.

We are not suggesting that you never

email an image but you should know

and trust the receiver and believe that

terms for an agreement can be made.

    7) Once there is an agreement for how an

image is to be used, the terms must be

set before the use occurs. Example: Onephoto may be used once for $25 or any

amount that is satisfactory. You may

even want the benefit of having your

    photos published without payment. If

so, that should be agreed upon up front.

    8) Others conditions must also be met.

Will you get photo credit? Will you get

a copy of the work published? Can you

buy extra copies if you need them?

    9) When is payment made? Upon publica-

tion? Within 30 days? At the end of the

publishing cycle? It really doesnt mat-

ter as long as you understand and agree

    to it.

    10) Finally, all terms and conditionsshould be confirmed in writing and signed

by both parties. Sounds like too much

work? Not so. Two copies of a simple

cover letter can do the job for you. Simple

business forms can do the job for you even

better. (See the offer for a lifetime supply

of IFPO Business Forms on pages 2 and 3

    for $39.95)

What happens if you have released your

images without an agreement for use and

learn they have been used? Contact the

user. Try to work through the steps listed

    here. Most everyone understands that

copyright infringement can be serious busi-

ness. In most situations, something fair and

equitable can be negotiated even after pho-

    tos have been used.

Its much easier to take the simple steps

required to protect your work at the time it

leaves your possession than to try to get

    control of it after use.

Keeping a log of photo packages, digital

images etc that are in the hands of potential

users helps you track usage, payments andpackages that should be returned. It also

often serves as a reminder of where your

best work is located and where and why

    you should submit it elsewhere.

    Using business forms designed especial-

ly for photographers not only help protect

your work, its a short cut to learning about

copyrights, rights to use, terms and condi-

tions. Just select the form that seems to

match your job and complete it! You

should never have to worry about protect-

ing the use of your photos again.

Finally, posting photos on social net-

working sites is not recommended. If you

post a photo of a logo or trademark (prosports uniforms etc) without permission of

the owner of such, you are violating logo

and trademark regulations which could get

you into trouble. Dont do it -- even though

you own the copyright to the photo. You

can submit such photos for editorial pur-

poses to a recognized publisher, TV or

broadcast outlets as a news item or a fea-

IFPOs Stock Listing ServiceThe following elements clearly distinguish the

differences in the IFPO Stock Listing Service and

    a stock agency:

    1. The service provided to IFPO members is a

    STOCK PHOTO LISTING SERVICE and

    NOT an agency.

    2. Each photographer manages his own sales.

    3. No commissions will be charged ever.

    4. Image buyers will browse the IFPO imagebank on the internet, select the photos, get the

price, index number and contact information to

order directly from the photographer who

    owns the images.

    5. Members may set their own pricing for eachphoto sold.

    6. Complete copyright standards will be avail-

able at the site for image buyers and IFPO

    member photographers (the sellers).

    7. Image searches by buyers may be made by

    subject.

    8. The most important part of any Stock PhotoService is its indexing system that allows an

image buyer to identify a photo for purchase.

Members are asked to identify their pictures by

their 5 digit member number plus a 5 character

code of their own choosing. Example: IFPO

member 99999 might use Index Codes of

    99999-KID01, 99999-KID02, etc.

ADVANTAGES OF THEIFPO STOCK GALLERY SERVICE

    www.ifpo.net/stock.html

List only the number of quality imagesyou wish to list -- not 10,000 to 50,000 asrequired by agencies.

You can add fresh images at your conve-nience. No minimums are required -- suchas the 1000 new images per year by manyagencies.

There are no contracts, exclusive orotherwise -- to tie up your images foryears as with an agency.

The price you set is what you get --could never happen with an agency.

There are no commissions ever -- unlikeagencies who always take at least 50 per-cent of sales.

Income from sales is instant and allyours -- very different from agencieswhere payment usually follow sales by 6 to8 months.

Model and other applicable releases arerequired for stock images listed with IFPO-- the same as with an agency.

Current and new clients can see yourfresh images instantly and contact you tobuy -- which could never happen with astock agency.

The more images you list with the IFPOPicture Listing Service the more likely youare to make money -- which is the same aswith an agency.

The more SUBJECTS you list with theIFPO Picture Listing Service, the morelikely you are to make money over the longhaul -- which is also true with an agency.

    SELL PHOTOS YOU ALREADY HAVE!

STSTARART SELLINGT SELLING YYOUR PHOOUR PHOTTOSOSSuccessful stock libraries contain HIGH QUALITY images of everyday life situations. IFPO members shoot such images everyday as a matter of

course. However, unless a photographer has hundreds or thousands of images, he may be shunned by the large stock houses. This could happen for two

reasons, he simply may not be recognized as a successful stock photographer or his stock of a few dozen images is too small for an agency to consider.

The IFPO Stock Listing service removes these barriers totally and opens doors to the international sales market.

  • 8/10/2019 2014 Annual

    21/52

More than six years ago to

    celebrate the 25th

    Anniversary of IFPO

    many things were considered. The

intent was to commemorate our first

25 years in a way to honor the contri-

butions of the members who had been

the driving force and heart of the orga-nization. After long deliberation it was

determined to induct those still active

    charter members and other deserving

    members into a permanent Freelance

Photographers Hall of Fame and to

award each an Honorary Degree of

    Distinction title.

    When the International Freelance

    Photographers Organization (IFPO)

was founded in 1983, no one could

have possibly foreseen 25 to 30 years

into the future. Now, 30 years later,

the original mission of IFPO -- to bethe primary source of support for the

    universe of freelance photographers --

has stood the test of time and has sure-

ly grown beyond the wildest imagina-

tions of the original founders and

    members.

    IFPOs first member was actually

enrolled on January 9, 1984. From

that day forward IFPO evolved into a

    member driven organization. That

simply means that members asked for

    services and support and IFPO

    responded with research and develop-

ment. That process evolved over theyears to make IFPO what it is today,

    the longest continuing central source

    of support for freelance photographers

    around the world.

Fortunately, it was easy to identify

the original Hall of Fame candidates.

Since day one IFPO has maintained a

    transactional data base that records

every single activity of each IFPO

    member. That includes program par-

    ticipation, editorial submissions, press

    assignments, photo contest entrants

and other information such as publish-

ing credits, internet home pages URLs

and more. Many members have shared

    their success stories outside IFPO

which is also noted in our membershiprecords. The original process pinpoint-

ed 3319 IFPO members (out of 78,656

at that time) to be permanently induct-

ed into the IFPO Hall of Fame.

The first Hall of Fame IFPO mem-

bers were inducted on January 2,

2008. Each one was notified by letter

or e-mail. If you were not notified, but

believe you may qualify, you may

check to see if your name is listed as a

    Hall of Fame member at

    www.ifpo.net/halloffame. Enter your

member number plus the first 3 char-

acters of your last name (8 characters

total). If you were inducted your name

    will appear on the list.

It is possible that there are deserv-

ing Hall of Fame Members that we

were not able to identify from our

    extensive records and other research

who should be honored. If you did not

    receive notification of your induction

and feel that you should be considered,

    please call 336-468-1138 to update

your records and discuss your poten-

    tial to be inducted.

To further honor and recognize theFreelance Photographers Hall of Fame

    members, IFPO created a unique,

    definitive Hall of Fame Portfolio

exclusively designed to share the Hon-

    orary Degree of Distinction with

clients and the most discerning friends

and family. Each item in the portfolio

is graced with the distinctive IFPO

    Hall of Fame Logo.

    T h e

    portfolio includes 1 Commemorative

25th Anniversay IFPO Hall of Fame

Lapel Pin of silver inlaid into a field of

black, 1 IFPO Hall of Fame Honorary

    Degree of Distinction Diploma and

    Charter in a Leatherette Presentation

Case plus 1 IFPO Hall of Fame Mem-

    ber Passport distinctly marked.

    The Freelance Photographers Hall

of Fame will be permanently located

on the IFPO internet site. Each Hall of

Fame members record will be also

marked permanently. But it is the Hall

of Fame Portfolio -- The Lapel Pin,

    Honorary Degree of Distinction Diplo-

ma, Charter and Passport ... that con-

vey the prestige of being inducted into

    the IFPO Freelance Photographers

    Hall of Fame.

Congratulations to each of you. It

was your lasting interest and ceaseless

suggestions that drove an organizationfrom its infancy in 1983 to more than

    80,000 members strong with interna-

tional recognition in 2014 ... and still

    growing.

    With your continued interest the

IFPO Hall of Fame will continue to

    review members qualifications and

induct even more members in the next

    twenty-five years.

WHAT IS IN YOUR FOCUS?By Ken Luebbert IFPO, Florissant, MO

    www.ifpo.net Today's Photographer International 21

Human interest stories are a favorite

    in every communitys newspaper and

are some of the first items read or

    reviewed in most publications, after

    the headlines. Developing human

    interest stories accompanied by

insightful and personal photos are the

kind of photo activity that can provide

    many exciting opportunities -- and

    promote your photography business.

You can meet very interesting indi-

viduals and discover insights into new

    art, talents, technologies and ethnic

    characteristics, etc. You can stretch

    your photographic skills in many

    directions by keeping the photographic

focus on the subject of your project, their specialties and unique gifts. Let

your photos capture the subject, their

surroundings, and their passion to sup-

    port your written words.

    This benefits the community by

    increasing their awareness of the

    unique attributes of the individuals

residing there and can inspire readers

to pursue their own dreams and goals

    as well.

If time permits prepare and submit

    articles frequently for publication to

your local paper. This will increase the

communitys awareness of you as a

photographer as well as your subjects.

Even when the publication chooses not

to use your article, the editor will gainan appreciation of your abilities over

time and you may find more consider-

    ation for your next submission.

    My following personal experience

    illustrates the possibilities for discov-

ery and the satisfaction derived from

    it.

At a community fund raiser, I devel-

oped an interest in a beautiful custom

vehicle on display. It featured a major

    modification to a standard production

car that resulted in a new utility truck

    configuration.The owners name was

THE 1986 OFFICIAL CENTENNIAL CARPRESIDENT REAGAN DECLARED 1986 TO BE THE CENTENNIAL YEAR OF THE GASOLINE POWEREDAUTOMOBILE. SIR DIMORAS CLENET WAS CHOSEN AS THE OFFICIAL CENTENNIAL CAR AND IS STILLGORGEOUS TODAY. 2013 KEN LUEBBERT

Present Your Credentialsto Get the Interview

Because Todays Photographer appealsto a wide range of photo interests it is

useful that periodic examples be providedto inspire each photo interest with real

    applications.Other photo magazine provide more

than enough equipment details. I thinkphotographers need examples that inspire

them to better inform their community(and promote their photography services)through photographs and articles thatthey produce about unique individuals.

Finding an important subject to photo-graph often send photographers in many

directions. Opportunities exist every-where and selecting where to start can be

troublesome. I enjoy locating specialpeople for a possible subject. This requires

a little investigative work, photographicchallenges and personal interest in

strangers and their exceptional gifts.Every community is certain to have peo-ple who can inspire others with their cre-

ativity, athleticism, inventiveness, charity, kindness and courage in the face of adver-

sity, or a thousand other traits thatmake them special. I suggest that you

seek out those individuals with your presscredentials in hand, write

and photograph their storiesOnce you find that unique person,

arrange a proper introduction and ask foran interview for the purpose of doing a

human interest story. After completing your self-assignment,

present your article to the feature editorat the local newspaper or even a national

publication if your subjects activitieshave a broad appeal. In this digital age,do not overlook online journalism as an

outlet for your work. You most likely will not get paid a

high professional fee for the time devot-ed to such a project -- but getting a

byline (your name and photos) into thepublic eye is key to getting your name out

promoting your photography services.Ken Luebbert IFPO

beside the CBS cameraman who was

shooting the event for the CBS Sports

Network. I was able to capture one of

the balls coming straight at me just

before it struck me in the face. One of

the EMTs sitting behind me laughing

put his hand on my shoulder and asked

me if I was alright and I laugh lying

held up my camera and said, I got it!

It was a grueling tournament under

the hot sun but the local fans seemed

to love every second of it. They were

treated to several long volleys that

seem to go on and on with many

    breathtaking saves on both the

womens and mens courts. If this

    years matches were any indication,

the AVP can look forward to many

    more successful years of tournament

play as its popularity continues to

    grow. St. Petersburg loved it!
