In consonance with President Benigno S. Aquino Ill's pursuit and vision of Tuwid Na Daan', the theme for the 2013 Women's Month Celebration is "Kababaihan: Gabay sa Pagtahak sa Tuwid na Daan". The theme underscores the need to accelerate women's participation in governance and enhance gender perspective in upholding good governance. It also highlights the importance of strengthening the mechanisms and institutions that support women and to widen the arena for their participation. Specifically, the celebration aims to: Highlight women's leadership roles, participation in decision-making, and participation in the political arena, peace-building and conflict resolution; Build upon the gains achieved under the existing mechanisms and institutions that support women and gender-responsive governance; and Strengthen partnership with media in promoting women's rights and in advocating to address gender issues In view of this and to ensure success of the month-long celebration, all local government units are hereby enjoined in their respective localities to initiate appropriate activities and/or participate in worthwhile activities to celebrate the Women's Day/Month and to submit a list of these (with details, e.g., title of activity, brief description, date and venue) to the Philippine Commission on Women (through email:[email protected] and/or fax: 736-4449) on or before February 27, 20l3.

SUBJECT 2013 NATIONAL WOMEN'S MONTI-ICELEBRATION

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation Nos. 224 and 227, senes of 1988 andRepublic Act 6949 s. 1990, the month of March is declared as National Women's Month.

Furthermore, all Local Chief Executives are hereby directed to post their programof activities in conspicuous places; their websites (if applicable); local newspapers; and/orbroadcast in radio stations for community awareness and participation.

All DILG Regional Directors are hereby directed to cause the widest disseminationof this Circular and extend necessary assistance, when needed.

Expenses related to the Women's Month may be charged to the Gender andDevelopment (GAD) Budget and other available funds of the LGUs.
