    1st Thursday at 7:00pm

Nobles of Oleika Temple, Thankyou for you and your ladies for

the big turn out in Pi-

    geon Forge. It sure

    was great fun and the

    Parade was super

    Lady Ruby and I want

    to thank everyone who

    worked so hard on the

    Potentates Ball. We

    sure had a great time.

    July is here and we

    had our last stated

    meeting in June before

    we go dark for two

months but our Temple will be

busy getting ready for the Fish

Fry on July 17th, Shrine Fest on

July 24th, and SESA August 11-

    15th.

    We hope that every-

    one will have a

    great summer and

    a safe one. Will be

    looking forward to

    seeing everyone

    back in September

    at the Stated Meet-

August is S.E.S.A. and we want

all the parade units to be there.

Let the front office or a Divan

member know if your unit can

make the trip to Greenville, SC.

    Be sure that everyone makes

plans to go to S.A.S.A which is

    coming up in September. Our

own John Chaney, PP, will beFirst VP of S.A.S.A. and will be

    President the following year. All

of Oleika is proud to have him as

part of our organization and he

can be sure that out Temple will

support him. This will be at

    least the second time that

one of our own has achieved

    the highest position in a

    Shrine Association. Edsel

    Moore, PP, was President of

S.E.S.A. There may be oth-ers that I have forgotten.

    You have to admire those

    who accept the responsibility

    of these high positions. It

takes a lot of work and time.

    They deserve our thanks.

Ill Sir Chuck is arranging a

bus trip to Myrtle Beach this

year for S.A.S.A. If he can

get enough nobles to sign up.This is a great idea. I have

    already signed up with my

    that carried all four

Oleika EngineersGreetings Nobles, one and all. The Oleika Engineers would like to introduce our-

selves and explain the purpose of our brand new unit. This unit was organized around

the first of the year. Illustrious Sir, Chuck Kendrick and the Divan members charteredour new unit in April. We've been very busy. Since the first of the year we have raisedthe funds and built a small scale, trackless, passenger train. The engine is approxi-mately 8 feet long and 4 feet wide and stands taller than a man. Comes complete withsmokestack, boiler chamber and a cab for our engineer driver. It's painted and deco-rated with a bright blue color. It pulls 4 cars. Each car seats 4 adults or 6 children. Thecolors are florescent green, bright canary yellow, pink (by request of the Daughters ofthe Nile) and (of course) a red caboose . We've just recently obtained our state certifi-cation for operation from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and we've receivedour electrical permit for our onboard power by the State Electrical Inspector and

Brother, Noble Larry Rice (he waived all fees). Because of this we are very well set upto run in night time parades with lights and sound.

It's interesting that we're the only train in recent years that has been inspected andpassed the first time. This is due to all the hard work and attention to detail by the No-ble Engineers. Job WELL DONE.

The purposes of our unit are:

1.) Creating an active parade unit for Oleika Temple2.) Raising much needed funds for our temple and

    Shrinedom in general

The way we intend to accomplish this is with the help of the Nobles in their individualtowns and counties. We would like to bring this train to your parades and festivals. Wewould also like to get permission to set this train up as an amusement type ride. Wecan run it on walking tracks or any kind of paved route. We would like to keep the dis-tance close to a quarter of a mile. If your town or area has a festival that we could op-erate in, we would appreciate any assistance in getting us set up to work in your area.

If you would be interested in joining us in this endeavor, we meet at the OleikaTemple in the 39 Club/Oleika Engineers room at 5:30 PM, before the stated meeting.Contact any engineer for a petition.

    Wilderness

Shrine Club NewsWilderness Shrine Club has tried to be a

leader in the Oleika Shrine Center list of

Clubs and We are on our way to making

2010 one of our best years.

We have already had 3 road block and even

though we have lost our prime locations, we

are still doing ok with them. Our group in

Lancaster was one of our better turn-outs.We ordered 8000lbs of Onions (most of them

pre-sold). This is a record setting order for

us and we feel theyll be gone in short order.

On June 4th and 5th, the members of the

Wilderness Shrine Club participated in the

Harrodsburg Beef Festival under the direc-

tion of ceremonial Master Mark Elliott. This

was not a fund raiser but just a way for us to

Show the Fez in a big event in our community. If

you were there those two days at the fairgrounds,

you enjoyed some good beef with the guys.

All of us at Wilderness will be attending the fam-

ily picnic on June 28th, the Stag steak fry on June

16th and the big family cookout at Harold

Harmons home on August 28th, where all kinds of

fun will be available to you.

Its going to be a busy summer and a fun Summer

for all our good WSC members and we always

have room for one more, theres always one or

more of us at the temple during its functions and

well be glad to make you a member also.

Wilderness Shrine Club would like to give our Po-

tentate Chuck Kendrick a great big Well Done

Salute for the fine job hes doing in keeping our

Oleika Center moving in the right direction.

Thanks Chuck, Keep up the good work.
