Welcome to Casady. Thank you for taking time to explore our school.

Casady has a long tradition of providing an outstanding education for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. It all began right after World War II, when a group of dedicated community leaders and educators came together to build the foundations for a college preparatory school connected to the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma. At that time, they envisioned a school that would offer small classes, personal attention and worship in an atmosphere that fosters healthy competition.

Today, Casady maintains its original vision to educate—in mind, body and spirit—each of our nearly 900 boys and girls on the 80-acre campus. Our outstanding faculty and staff strive to ensure our students engage fully in their educational lives so that they will find success in college and beyond. What excites me most about Casady is that our mission aligns with and is supportive of our collective hope to provide opportunities for our children, and also to build and strengthen our community. Great schools encourage intellectual vitality, foster communication, value diversity of experience, promote self-formation and aim to make our world a better place. At Casady School you’ll see those values expressed each and every day.

At its heart, Casady provides genuinely expansive and engaging learning experiences for all. Our students deepen their understanding of themselves and their world through a carefully designed curriculum, guided by dedicated and talented faculty who ensure that each child finds success.

A strong partnership between families and the school and a shared commitment to understanding what is best for children are essential elements of this process. In mind, body and spirit, our mission at Casady is to prepare students for life.

Thank you for your interest in Casady. I hope that you will visit us in person; I look forward to meeting you soon.

Learning to give selflessly is one of the greatest lessons in life. We believe that giving is its own reward. At Casady, our students learn the value of service through first-hand experience. Before they graduate, Casady students perform a minimum of 45 hours of community service for charitablecauses like Habitat for Humanity, the Infant

Crisis Service, and local food banks, to name a few. Maybe that’s why our graduates go on to become civic and community leaders. The lesson is this: making a difference in others’ lives makes an even bigger difference in their own.

Character is the compass that guides us through difficulty, and it shapes our interac-tions with others. At Casady, we encourage character development through daily chapel services, through support and service to our community, and through weaving ethics throughout our curriculum.

Casady students will be the leaders, thinkers and builders of tomorrow. That’s why we lay the groundwork of high moral character today.

Building compassion within, so one goes without.

Knowledge with character inspires action.

How effective is our curriculum? • The school maintains a 12:1 student-faculty ratio and offers 15 AP courses.• Students attend classes in a college-like atmosphere. They enjoy a sprawling, 80-acre campus with 29 separate academic buildings.• In the fall of 2010, our campus will house a state-of-the-art mathematics building, which will be one of the first ‘green’ LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) school buildings in the state of Oklahoma.

And the results speak for themselves:• The class of 2009 earned more than $3.5 million in merit-based scholarships for college. For the past three years, Casady students earned over $10 million.• An estimated 90 to 95 percent of Casady graduates receive some form of merit scholarship for college.• 65 percent enroll in out-of-state schools. 35 percent went to in-state schools.• 74 percent of the class of 2009 was accepted by their first-choice universities.• From 2007 to 2009, nearly 11 percent of graduates were National Merit Finalists or Semi-finalists.• During the same period, Casady students averaged more than 1230 on the SAT and nearly 27 on the ACT. These numbers compare to 1016 and 22 respectively for the national average.• Between 2007 and 2009, the average graduating GPA was higher than 3.1.• In 2009, 120 Casady students sat for 248 AP exams. 70 percent scored 3 or higher.

At Casady School, we take our responsibility as teachers and mentors seriously. With more than $3.5 million in scholarships awarded by top colleges and universities across the coun-try in 2009 alone, we feel confident we’re delivering on our promise to facilitate the very best education for our students. And we’re committed to maintaining the same high standards for graduating classes to come.

At Casady, students come from numerous backgrounds, belief systems and national origins. We value and respect each individual and we take the time to understand what factors shape and guide them as they discover their voices in the classroom and beyond.

Community is finding the common thread, focusing on common goals, and working toward a common vision. This is the essence of the Casady school experience.

One community shaped by many.

Research now confirms that early childhood education is crucial to success in school and in later life. Selecting the best environment for your child’s pre-school and kindergarten years is important. We believe that experiential learning is the most effective way to teach children at this stage of development. Our hands-on method lets our youngest students experience the authentic pride of accomplishment – a powerful motivation for future success.Experiential learning helps children master the basics they need for first grade – writing,

beginning arithmetic and reading, social skills and respect for others. The boundaries between play and schoolwork are invisible to the children thanks to our carefully planned curriculum. We want each child in our care to develop a love for learning that will last a lifetime. Imagination. Cooperation. Basic life skills. These are just a few of the building blocks we instill in our youngest students. Our mission is to make bright young minds even brighter. It’s a challenge we embrace with great enthusiasm.

Setting the stage for success. It’s our primary responsibility. Primary Division: Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten

Page 9: 2010 Casady View Book

Lower Division students are particularly eager for new experiences and opportunities. We empower these students to achieve maximum cognitive growth and academic excellence all while encouraging logical reasoning, creative expression and personal responsibility. These concepts are integrated into a traditional arts curriculum as well as all of our core subjects.Lower Division begins to prepare children for the transitions to come. First and second graders find security through their homeroom experience where they learn reading, spelling, math and social studies. Each day they also venture out to

other classrooms to learn music, Spanish, science, art, physical education, Bible and computer studies. Third and fourth grade children still enjoy the security and familiarity of homerooms while rotating classrooms for core academic subjects. These rotations teach children valuable organizational skills, which will assist them well beyond their years at Casady.Casady School teachers work closely with individual children, parents and each other to make sure each child leaves the division fully prepared for the academic and social challenges ahead.

A developing mind. A growing curiosity.Lower Division: Grades 1-4

Page 10: 2010 Casady View Book

The Middle Division years are an exciting and challenging time in a student’s life. Casady helps students develop confidence and responsibility during this vital and sometimes unpredictable stage.Middle Division classes are held in the McClendon Building, a versatile, open-architecture learning environment organized by grade level. The building design encourages students from all grades to interact and form friendships. Structured, family-style lunches and school-wide community service projects further strengthen our Middle Division students’ sense of belonging. At this level, students begin to develop their abstract thinking abilities. Coursework and subjects are engaging and relevant: mathematics, Latin, computer science, natural and physical sciences, world history, the

humanities, biblical studies and more. Students also pursue the arts – music, including orchestra, instrumental and vocal music; visual, studio and graphic arts; creative writing and performing arts instruction, practice rooms, stages and studios. Individual and team sports give our Middle Division students more opportunities to compete and refine their athletic skills. Teachers and advisors help and guide each child as they decide which electives and interests to pursue. Through our guidance we help them develop lifelong skills of time management, effective study habits, and an ability to pursue their passions. The Middle Division program is designed to enhance the breathtaking pace of early adolescent development.

From a well-rounded curriculum, character takes its shape. Middle Division: Grades 5-8

Page 11: 2010 Casady View Book

Our college acceptance rates are impressive; our track record with the finest universities in the country is a continuing story of student success not only gaining admittance to the college of their choice, but also outpacing their peers once enrolled at those institutions.Upper Division students each have a curriculum that is tailored to his or her interests and strengths. From the beginning, advisors work with students (and parents) to develop a plan for college preparatory courses. Casady teachers provide guidance, counseling, and advocacy each and every day. School spirit at Casady has never been higher. Football, basketball and other competitive sports provide incredible excitement, pride and fun. Casady’s park-like campus provides safe and inviting places

for students to gather with friends. Family-style lunches, chapel, clubs, and community service create an inclusive and caring community – a core value of our school. Upper Division theater, orchestra and choral music performances draw appreciative audiences again and again. Over the years, our productions have included actors and musicians who have gone on to professional careers. Casady faculty and advisors help each student gain admission to the college that offers the best fit. Our relationships with colleges and universities has never been stronger; based on years of data, admissions officers across the country understand and value our students. Casady staff and faculty are honored to provide the opportunities, education and guidance that prepare our students for success.

Prepare for college. Prepare for life. Upper Division: Grades 9-12

Today, college admission is more selective than ever. At Casady School, college preparation is an ongoing process that begins during freshman year. Our counselors work closely with parents to learn about the goals and interests of each student, and help them decide on the most appropriate curriculum.By their sophomore year, students develop a vision of their future, and we modify their coursework to accommodate their goals. We encourage students to lead, volunteer and experience personal enrichment opportunities. With a wide variety of social and academic clubs, Casady students have ample opportunity to build their resumes. During their junior year, students meet with their college counselor once per month. They take standardized tests and visit college campuses. And with a

little help from Casady’s expert counselors, they begin narrowing their college selections down to a few options that are right for their needs. As senior year begins, students continue taking the SAT and ACT, and sit for advanced placement exams to earn college credit. It’s a thrilling time in a young person’s life.We bring leading college admission experts from across the country to campus. We also provide the latest technology to create multi-year plans for each student that helps chart a path to meet graduation requirements. At Casady, we understand the dedication and hard work that go into the college application process. We give our all to make sure students get exactly what they want - a letter of acceptance from their favorite college or university.
