Alterations will be announced over the public address system. 2013 Show Program ENTRANTS: Bridget Kerr, Madison Brown and Jane Maloney were guests of honour at the recent Miss Young Showgirl meet and greet night at Young Showground. (DSC09872) Who will be the 2013 showgirl? THIS year’s Young Show boasts three showgirl entrants who are vying for the prestigious 2013 Miss Young Showgirl title. Jane Maloney, Bridget Kerr and Madison Brown – all aged 19 – were intro- duced to the community during a meet and greet night in the main pavilion at the Young Showground on Saturday night, September 7. The winning showgirl is selected by a panel of three judges and remains showgirl until the next year’s show. Contestants are judged on personality, confidence, ambition and life goals, general knowledge, rural knowledge, presentation and speech. Finalists must also demonstrate knowledge of their local community and current affairs. In addition to their potential ambassadorial qualities, contestants are also judged on their involvement in and experience of rural affairs. They will represent the town at zone finals early next year where a zone repre- sentative for the state final is selected. The state final for the competition is conducted by the RAS at the Sydney Royal Easter Show and usually has between 15- 18 entrants. Judges are nominated by the RAS with the judging being conducted over a four-day period. The winner of the 2013 Miss Young Showgirl competition will be announced at 3.30pm on Tuesday at the Young Show.
