Phase 1 Installation

Dear RAMP Up Partners: I wanted to take a moment to give you a brief update regarding the California Career Pathways Trust with the Victor Valley Community College District Consortium locally referred to as RAMP Up.

It has been an action-packed few months since the RAMP Up staff at Victor Valley College began being assembled. Now that we have desks, computers, and supplies we can get things moving.

The VVC Board of Trustees approved all the sub-recipient agreements that we submitted and we have now received back the signed and wholly executed copies from our President’s office. The agreements have all been mailed to the partner schools and colleges.

Partners, please contact Charlotte Allen, our RAMP Up Administrative Secretary, to schedule a one-on-one meeting with our RAMP Up Coordinator and/or myself to discuss your unique needs and to cultivate a plan.

For those schools that have been identified to have Immersive Technology, our IT team should have visited your site by now to complete a readiness survey. RAMP Up is in the process of issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) so that technology companies may competitively bid for the job to do ALL of the installations at all of our sites. Once the winner of the bid is selected, that vendor will deploy multiple teams to complete the work. The installations will occur in phases, beginning shortly after the upcoming New Year, and will be chosen by facility readiness and pathway alignment.

I am sure there will be some questions; don’t hesitate to reach out to the RAMP Up team for support or assistance. We are excited to take this journey with you. Enjoy your time off celebrating the season!

Student

Success

Brandy, an automotive student, recently finished numerous auto classes and earned several certificates. She applied for a job at the local Nissan dealership and was hired as a smog and lube technician. As she is obviously ambitious, she then applied at FedEx at the Ontario Airport and was hired there as well! She is now working both jobs.

Congratulations, Brandy!

Immersive Classrooms

To meet one of the first-year outcomes of the CCPT grant, 25% of participating schools will utilize connective technology to participate in a pathway experience (i.e. virtual field trip, employer interview, employer mentoring experience, etc.). To meet this outcome, 6 participating schools in the partnership will need to participate in an event by June 30, 2015. In January 2015, it is anticipated that the winning bid for installation will go to the Board of Trustees for approval. The installations are expected to begin March 2015, with all classrooms completed by May 2015. RAMP Up staff will begin contacting partners in February to schedule Immersive Classroom activities for May and June 2015.
