After successfully completing the first term, we
began our second term in the month of September. All the
students and teachers returned with much enthusiasm and
high spirits. It was like they have re-entered into the
domain of learning.

A high quality school assembly is one of the most important aspects of
school’s curriculum.
World Peace Day
‘Peace Begins with a Smile’
World Peace day was celebrated on 21stSepember with
a sense of knowing the importance of peace. The
assembly began with recitation of verses from Holy
Quran, Hadees and its translation. The quote of the day
was “World peace can be achieved when the power of
love replaces the love of power”.
The little angels sang an English song “We are
the angels, we come from heaven”, a skit ‘Maintain
Peace’ was enacted and a Hindi song “Ishwar ya Allah”
was sung. Our beloved principal Mrs. Aasima Saleem
gave a motivational speech and all the students took a
pledge that they will carry the message of peace along
with them throughout their lives.

Promoting Regional Languages:
Vishwa Hindi Divas
10th January is celebrated as the world Hindi day,
it is celebrated in order to promote Hindi language.
Hindi Department celebrated this day with lots of
cultural activities such as songs, dance, drama and skit.
Kerala Formation Day
‘Kerala Piravi Dinam’ marks the birth of Kerala a state in India. This day was
celebrated on 2nd November with great pomp and gaiety in Y.I.S. Department of Malayalam
took this opportunity and displayed the artistic heritage and culture of Kerala showcased
by different dance form of Kerala in their ethnical attire. Audience enjoyed to the brim
by the performance of VI-X students, it was entrancing and just breathtaking.
Sir Syed Day
“Ignorance is the mother of poverty” was said by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan who was a
great Urdu scholar and educational reformer.
Department of Urdu took the initiative to celebrate Sir Syed Day on 16th of
October2014, with vigor and spirit. Students of VI and VII grades created an aura of
divine spirituality among the spectators by showcasing a skit. Melodious poems and
wonderful ghazals were enchanted by the budding Urdu lovers. It was indeed a great
fusion of rich culture and heritage which ignited the quest for learning the dynamic Urdu
language. It was a complete package of fun and entertainment.

Children’s Day
‘There are somethings, we cannot buy,one of such things is childhood’.
Children’s Day was celebrated on 14th November, a day of
laughter and a day to rejoice. Teachers took this day to
remember their childhood by organizing it with fun and
gratification. Y.I.S organized Food and Fun Fair for boys and
class party for girls. Teachers performed dance and sang songs
depicting ‘Incredible India’. The sense of rejoicing could be seen
on the faces of children as well as the teachers seeing the
bunny dance. Y.I.S believes that children are budding stars, the
more you embrace them the more they shine.
Teachers’ Day
A teacher’s purpose is not to create his/her own image in
students, but to develop students who can create their own
image. This is a much awaited day both by teachers as well as
students. Teachers’ day was celebrated on 5th September, with a
fragrance of respect towards their beloved teachers. Children
were given worksheets which helped them to understand the
contributions of Dr.S.Radhakrishnan in teaching field.
Onam Celebrations
Onam was celebrated on 6th of September, it
was a day filled with fun and rewards. The great
cultural heritage of Kerala was portrayed by the
teachers of Y.I.S.
Decadians and Excellence Awards for Teachers
In grateful appreciation of the teacher’s service, Y.I.S bestowed loyalty awards to
teaching and non-teaching staff who completed 10 years of service in this great

institution. Teachers who shined extremely well during the last academic year were
awarded for their outstanding performance.
Food And Fun Fair
Life in CELESTIA grades is amazing, lots of exciting things happen here. Food and fun
fair extravaganza was organized for boys section on 14th November and for girls on 11th
December respectively. The school campus looked like a hub of celebration. Many food
stalls were put up and ample of appetizing, aromatic, caramelized, delicious dishes were
savoured.
Fun filled games were organized by the school. Children were increasingly excited,
cheerful and amused as they enjoyed thoroughly. All genres of song and
music were appreciated as radio jockey played Jazzy, melodic and philharmonic albums. The
audience was spell bound hearing to the mesmerizing songs. It was a delectable day for all
to remember.

“Set your goals high, and do not stop till you reach”.
It’s not the will to win that matters but the will to participate matters most. The
annual sports meet was conducted from 19th to 26th October for juniors (Under 14) and
from 9th to 13th November for sub junior(Under 12) categories respectively. The students
enthusiastically participated in 50m flat race, relay race, shotput, long jump, football,
badminton and variety of team events. The play ground was echoing with cheers for the
winners.

Drawing And Painting Competition (V,VI&VII)
‘Create with the heart; build with the mind’.
Drawing and painting competitions were conducted for grades VI & VII on 24th
September 2014 and for grade V on 20th October 2014. Children made an expressive
gesture with the advantage of performance in their art.
It was a delight to the eyes and thrill to the heart seeing the magnificent colours
and spectacular art.
Cross-Word Puzzle Competition (Grade V)
The wonderful thing about doing a crossword puzzle is, you know there is a solution.
Cross-word puzzle competition was held for grade V students on December 4th 2014. Y.I.S
believes this kind of competition will proliferate the genius in a child.
Quiz Competition (Grade V,VI&VII)
Quiz Competition is another way of encouraging
learning. Quiz competition was held to test the knowledge
especially as a competition between individual students and
then into teams as a form of learning and entertainment. To
mark Srinivasa Ramanujan’s
birthday Y.I.S observed ‘Ganith Week’ and various topics of
Mathematics were included in the quiz competition. The
interest of the students mushroomed to high level and they
enjoyed to the brim. The efforts of the participants were
appreciated and winners were awarded.
Debate Competition(VI&VII)
Debate competition was held for grade VI&VII students on 27th & 29th January
respectively. The topics were –‘ Reality Television Shows Do More Harm Than Good’ for
grade VI and ‘Advertising Aimed At Children Should Be Restricted’, for grade VII. These
thought provoking topics were chosen not only to be debated upon but to make our students
excellent orators and eloquent skilled speakers.

Scout Inspection was held on 13th January 2015. Dr.Shaukat Parvez-Principal of IISR
and team of scout commissioners inspected the equipments and scout activities. They were
highly impressed by the arrangements and gave positive remarks.
Valedictory function was
held on 22nd February 2015. It
was a day to be nostalgic about.
Winners of the sports events
were rewarded with prizes, medals
and certificates. The auditorium
echoed with a loud round of
applauses. The moment was just
vivacious.
Three cheers to the
Individual Champions….. Master
Mohammed Nidal(VII) and Miss Dileena Iqbal(VII).The champions trophy was lifted by
Emarald House with 208 points, the second place was bagged by Ruby House with 198
Points and Supphire House was the third with 182 points.
A special lecture creating awareness on hypertension
was conducted on 3rd and 10th February respectively for VII
to X grades by the nursing department of King Faisal
Hospital. Mrs. Soumy and Mrs. Lovely gave inspirational and
useful tips on how to combact hypertension.
Field Trip was organized for grade V to Oceanica,
Riyadh Gallery and grade VI & VII students to Saffori Land-
Othaim Mall. Students had a gala time enjoying rides and
games. Children relished the snacks and had a fanciful day.

Cluster Meet
“Flip Hip Hurry”
“When you have something to prove,
there is nothing greater than a challenge”.
Students of Y.I.S took it as a challenge and participated with much zeal in the XXIV
Cluster meet 2014 held at Riyadh. Miss Dileena Iqbal(VII),Miss Hibah Hashir(VII), Miss.
Almas Sheikh Ansar(VII), Miss Amal Abdullah(VII),Miss Iram Kabir(VII) and Master
Mohammed Nidal(VII) made us all proud. It was indeed a moment of pride for Y.I.S as
they won Gold and Bronze medals in 100m,400m,800m race,4x400m relay and shot put. It
was an alluring moment to be cherished. Y.I.S were the winners of the regional level
football tournament held from 25th to 28th November 2014. Master Nabhan Abdul
Latheef(VII) represented Y.I.S football team which secured the Runner’s up position in
the grand finale of PeeVees Cup held in Jeddah.
Participation at CBSE National Athletic Championship
Y.I.S deems it a great pleasure to announce that our sports
stars Miss Dileena Iqbal(VII) and Sophie Cycily Seejo(VIII)
participated in 19th National Athletic Championship held at Divine
Child school, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India which was held between
7th-12th January 2015.Sophie secured 8th Position in shotput
(Under 14 girls) and Dileena was qualified in 400m race (Under 14
girls) to the semifinals in the meet which made us all feel proud.
‘Kudos to All cluster meet participants for their exuberant performances’.
National Science Talent Search Examination(NSTSE)
Y.I.S always gives priority to build up courage to face challenges
and to grace students’ life with intellectuality. After being trained to
attempt NSTSE exam, students were full of confidence and high
moral.Master Bijo John(VII),Miss Reema Marankulangara (VII),Miss Binesh
Fathima(VII) ,Master Naveen Sunil Kumar(VII) and Miss Nandhana
Jayachandran(VI) brought laurels to Y.I.S. Master Bijo John (VII) bagged
55th rank at National level and was crowned as “National Achiever” placing

Malarvadi
‘Malarvadi’ is a renowned Malayalam school magazine for kids which
is known for its thoughtful approach to increase and improve literary skills
in Malayalam language among the students. Every year Malarvadi
demonstrates an initiative in conducting projects, written test and quiz
competitions for Indian school students through out Gulf countries and the
same was conducted in Riyadh region too. Our students participated and
were praised for their success.
In junior category Miss Nawal Nabeesu (V), secured Second place in written test
and she secured First place in the quiz competition. At senior level Master Labeeb K
(VII) was selected for quiz competition. ‘Heartiest Congratulations!’
"The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don't tell you what to
see" Alexandra. k. Trenfor. Connecting home and school makes a great community of
learners. Parent teacher meetings were held on 18th October, 20th December and 21st
February respectively. Parents assessed and gauged the performance of their wards and
teachers considered their enquiries.
“Education breads confidence, confidence breads hope. Hope breads peace”.
Y.I.S is indeed thankful to the Almighty for blessing us to complete one more year
with success. This would not have been possible without the encouragement and support of
our beloved principal Mrs.Aasima Saleem, the management committee members, our
dedicated staff and all the parents. We ensure to continue the success story in the years
ahead.
