2013 was a very prosperous year for Weldon.

With the welcoming of many new employees, big tran-

sitions with store relocations, and entering the world of

social media, Weldon has waved goodbye to 2013 and

leaped into the new year with many new projects set in

stone. There are many things we will be looking for-

ward to this year. With a newly relocated brake shop

and new stores popping up, we center in on our Presi-

dent and Vice President of the company, to see how

things came to a conclusion for 2013, and what’s to

come this year. Here's what they had to say:

“2013 was a year of exciting and challenging

activities in the Oklahoma reline center. We moved into

our new building, added equipment and reviewed and

redefined our processes. We added new staff and con-

tinued to build our team. We became the transfer hub to

sort and process transfers. We began to be a destination

for vendor orders spitting to multiple locations. We

repaired one truck and replaced another ( with one

more on the way). We processed a million greasy cores

(at least). We hosted meetings and events. We endured

tornadoes, floods, and ice storms. We caught mice and

snakes. We enjoyed good food on Fridays. Most of all

we pulled together as a team to get the job done.”—

A Look Back in 2013

“The beginning of 2014 finds Weldon in the

middle of several ongoing projects. 2013 was a great year

in terms of moving the company forward. Our focus in

2014 is to bring these projects to fruition. The Oklahoma

city brake shop, purchasing, and IT departments have

moved into their new building. The brake shop has added

new equipment and more workers. IT has added Brian

Moore. We also have 2 new transfer trucks. Clinton has

moved to its new building. We are putting together a

chrome and accessory show room. Lanne has begun taking

on jobs involving accessorizing trucks and installing tarp

systems on trailers. The final stage of the Elk City project

is underway. When completed, they will have a state of the

art display area. Of course, 2013 saw the opening of our

Perryton, TX store. They got off to a quick start, and are

well on their way to becoming what we projected them to

be. Grand Island moved to a brand new building in Octo-

ber. The first benefit was a very attractive display area in

the store. They also added a person to make sure our ser-

The Grand Island location has been at their old store for several years. They recently moved to a bigger location so they could have more space. Here are some pictures of their new store!

The annual managers meeting was held in OKC

at the new building on Penn, on October 25th-

26th, 2013. Topics covered at the yearly meeting

were yearly calendars, 2013 accomplishments,

budgets, how to read reports, sales objectives,

marketing for 2014, brake shop production

and many other issues. Everyone seemed to

get a lot out of the meeting, especially the

new managers.

Our Christmas party was held at the New World Inn in Columbus, Nebraska.

The party was in a banquet style setting. Everybody seemed to really enjoy the

privacy and spaciousness of the room. We had all but 3 employees attend due

to illness, and I believe our count was 42 attending. We would like to thank

Weldon Parts for the evening and meal. We would also like to give Amy a big

thank you for the traditional homemade breads that she makes each year!

Reel News

The movie begins as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark

(Josh Hutcherson) return home after winning the 74th annual hunger games.

They embark on a victors tour of all the districts and President Snow (Donald

Sutherland) prepares for the 75th Hunger games, the quarter quell. The Capitol is

still very much in control in the movie and Katniss sense rebellion during the

film. The two hour film concludes so abruptly and tantalizingly, it leaves you

wanting more. You can see by this that there will be a third movie. It is another

year, another challenge. The stakes are definitely raised in this film. It’s more

epic, more complex, and darker than the first film. It thrills and entertains every

step of the way with great pacing and great direction. It’s always hard to make a

sequel that can match he quality of the original film. This is a must see film. I give

it 5 stars.

Madea get’s lured into helping a friend go visit her daughter in the

country for Christmas, but they get the biggest surprise when they

arrive. As the small rural town prepares for their annual Christmas

jubilee, new secrets are revealed and old relationships are tested

while Madea dishes her own brand of Christmas spirit to all. Madea

(Tyler Perry) and Bobby (Larry the Cable Guy) both have a great

sense of humor in this movie. They make the family come together,

and go well along with the movie. Overall the storyline and message

were pretty good. I give it 4 stars.

Ogre’s Pearls of Wisdom “The Holiday Edition”

I’d like to start this time by sharing a helpful household hint: If you run out of dish soap, you can use shampoo. It works nearly as well. Plus, your dishes will be manageable, bouncy, and tangle-free.

Do you have guests left over from the holidays, or know someone who always seems to show up at suppertime? To quietly get them to leave without a scene, try this: After everyone has finished eating, take all the dirty dishes, pots and pans, and utensils and place them on the floor in the kitchen. Then, call the dogs or cats in, and invite them to lick the dirty items. When they’ve finished, take all the dishes and put them in the cupboard. You'll never see those folks again. (I’ve actually done this—it DOES work!)

And for those of you who are wondering: No, I have not lost my mind. It got scared and ran away.

Happy New Year!
