welcome
dear industry Colleagues,
on behalf of the advisory board, Pennwell, and offshore magazine, it is my sincere pleasure to welcome you to the 6th annual offshore Asia Conference & Exhibition, March 29 - 31, 2011, at newly built Marina Bay Sands resort, Singapore.
Singapore, home to an estimated 20% global market share of ship repair, 70% of newbuild jackup rigs, and 70% of FPSo conversions, is an emerging regional hub for offshore supply chain and logistics operations, and an ideal host for offshore Asia 2011.
The 2010 event attracted a record 5,025 attendees from 63 countries, representing a 116% increase from the 2009 event. Strong attendance is expected to continue with growth in world energy demand, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, expected to accelerate due to its rapidly developing economies.
Total capital expenditures in the region are expected to reach nearly $80 billion during 2011-2015, a 40% increase from the previous five-year period, according to infield Systems Ltd. Total production is estimated to increase 126% during the forecast period.
Meanwhile, the u.S. Geological Survey estimates a mean of 21.6 B bbl of oil and 299 tcf of undiscovered natural gas is to be found in 23 provinces of Southeast Asia, more than 90% of them offshore. The assessment of undiscovered gas resource is equivalent to more than twice the estimate of undiscovered oil resource.
The advisory board for offshore Asia 2011 has shaped a conference program that highlights new technology, regional trends, and challenges. Lim Kok Kiang, director of Transport Engineering, Singapore Economic development Board, opens the conference with the welcome Address. Next up, Jacob dweck, head of LNG, Sutherland, addresses the global regulatory implications for offshore operations as a result of the Macondo incident in the Gulf of Mexico. A regional offshore forecast closes the opening Session.
The subsequent technical program comprises two tracks. one track covers offshore exploration and production technology. Session topics include well construction & drilling operations, production optimization, risk management, regional challenges, flowlines & pipelines, and construction & installation. The second track – LNG – is new for 2011. Session topics include commercial and trade issues, supply, markets, analyses, and technology.
once again, welcome to offshore Asia 2011.
Sincerely,
David PaganieDirector, Offshore Conference, PennWellChief Editor, Offshore Magazine

With its oil and gas reserves predicted to last for only another 3 decades, and the Malaysian economy predicted to grown by 6% per annum over the next 5 years, the Government must reform its power sector and use private investment to ensure its national growth.
There is a general agreement that if economic growth proceeds at predicted rates, there could be a generation deficit by 2018.
Malaysia is part of a region that is recovering from the recession at great pace. Singapore’s economy grew at a record 17.9 percent pace in the first half of 2010, while Indonesia expanded 6.2 percent in the second quarter and Thailand grew 9.1 percent.
If your company supplies products or services to the power generation and transmission and distribution industries in Asia, then POWER-GEN Asia is essential to reaching the key industry professionals and decision makers.
