Fantastic entry and sale this week!! Half term trade on fire!! 515 forward! 99% clearance!

A welcome sight in-between the cages this week with a large crowd of buyers and with plenty of entries a brisk trade was found!! A much increased entry of pullets met a similar trade of recent despite a large entry selling mostly between £4 - £6.

HORTICULTURAL SALE 10.30amAuctioneer Jonathan Farrall 07796 952948

Still fairly early in the season, but with the recent milder weather, a nice, varied entry of plants and horticultural produce was forward for today’s sale.

A good crowd of buyers illustrated that peoples thoughts are turning to their gardens, there was certainly something to suit all tastes and budgets, the fun and entertainment was free of charge! Evergreen shrubs were the order of the day, Aucuba selling to £7.50 along with Skimmea and Camellia at £7 and Phormium at £5. A mixed entry of fruit trees saw Apples to £9, Plums to £7, Blackberries to £6 and Raspberries to £5.50.

85 CULL COWS 10.00amAuctioneer Simon Lamb 07815188125

Topping at 164p or £1254Less numbers on the week, perhaps not a bad thing regarding trade, as prices just about stuck to that of the week prior. Quality was mixed today, without having too many of each grade, with a large contingent of buyers for very commodity. Best black and white cows continue to sell readily in excess 105 pence, with continentals up to 150ppk for younger feeding types. However the continuing trend see’s the plainer end selling on an extremely buoyant trade in comparison to the best. Plenty of hard worked cattle in the high 80’s and into the early 90’s. More cows wanted with buyers for all grade of cows, at Beeston nothing gets turned away, unlike some collections, with buyers capable of handling more. Can you afford not to sell your cattle on their feet at Beeston, only the live weight system, through a ring, can offer you the competition needed to market your culls to their highest value, and Beeston certainly offers you that. Please don’t forget to inform ourselves if your cattle are tested, with a real premium for feeding types, and a bag full of buyers to match. At Beeston we cater for all models, shapes, sizes and nationalities. Please don’t hesitate to call Simon Lamb on 07815 188125.

Today’s market average (mostly black and white), coming in at 95.14ppk or £590.73 per head. (Everything in, including the lean, mean, lame and loopy!) Black and white cows traded throughout the day at 105p to 120p for meated cows(130p to 160p younger models), 95p to 105p for steakers, 85p to 95p for stronger plain cows and 55p to 80p there after!

A sound enquiry for just about everything on offer, trade remains similar and despite a distinct lack of superstars, the cattle forward added up to some decent returns.

Leading the trade was Peter Jeffs with heavy heifers to 189p/kg grossing a creditable £1200. Heavy steers (Hereford x) from the same good home grossed £1155, narrowly ahead of Peter Siddorn at £1146.25 and The Warburton Family’s Blues at the same price. Further heifers from Messrs Warburton and Andrew Williamson all over £1100 all looking on a par with anywhere else.

Don’t forget, here at Beeston, you’re assured of a warm welcome, a professional service and a try hard attitude to marketing you’re finished or Store cattle. We are here to get you the best price we can! For more information or a confidential chat please ring Jonathan on 07796 952948 or 01829 262100.

120 STORE CATTLEAuctioneer Jonathan Farrall 07796952948

Another cracking show of stores forward highlighting the benefit of a thriving weekly sale, trade was once again very fast, especially for those forward types for which demand appears to outstrip supply by a considerable margin.

Leading the trade with their first draw was local producers S Hassall & Co selling 20mo steers to £1185, Andrew Williamson came very close with another Lim x at £1170 (22mo) and distant travellers Messrs Watson sold Blues to £1155. Top priced native was Owen Tunney’s pure Angus steer making £1140 at just 14mo! Some super young cattle on offer once again, great to see Mike Siddorn with his quality steers making £950 at just 11 months, plenty of longer term steers suitable for summering making between £750 and £850. Steer average £778 (all breeds and ages).

A similar story with the heifers, strong forward types topped at £1075 for Nick Allwood (Sim x), Messrs Latham sold Herefords and Angus x to £985 just ahead of Brian and Lynda Hopley at £965. A better proportion of heifers over £800 including, once again, some very smart youngsters from Mike Siddorn at £880 being just 11 months. Heifer average £730 (AB &A).

Thank you all for your continued support. If you are thinking of selling stores soon don’t leave it too long! Trade has to be seen to be believed, BUT don’t take my word for it, come and see for yourself. I’m at your disposal for farm visits if needed, just give me a call 07796 952948.
