THE DRIED FRUITS ACT, 1926.Regulations.

1. Subject as hereinafter providcd no grower shallsell, and no dealer-shalt buy or sell, currants containingmore than five per centum by number of berries con-taining seeds. Any person who, contravenes: this= regu-lation shall be -guilty, of, an offence, and shall be liableon conviction to a - penalty not exceeding One hundredpounds for every such offence:

Provided that it shall not be an offence under thisregulation when, with the per in writing of theBoard, a grower sells or a dealer buys or sells any cur-rants as aforesaid for any of the following purposes,namely :

,(a) for manufacturing purposes, or(b) for distillery pun-poses; or(c) for sale for any pun-pose other than that of

human consumption,-, when the currants, uponbeing, processed by a registered packing; sired,are found, by reasom,of their inferior quality,or for any other reason, to be unfit for humanconsumption, and are subsequently treated,- bya registered packing., sired in such a -manner asto render them unfit for human consumption.

2. Any dried fruit delivered to a winery or distil-lery for the pun-poses thereof, and any dried fruit:which,upon being treated by a' registered packing shed- isfound- by reasons of its inferior quality or for any otherreason: to be unfit for sale for human consumption, shallnot be included in the AuStralian quota prescribed orotherwise deterinined by the Board_ for or in relationto the grower- by whom such dried fruit was prodUced;provided that, :in the case of dried fruit deliVered to awinery or distillery, evidence is produced to the satis-faction of the Board that such dried fruit: has: beenpassed and graded by an inspeetor2and has actuallybeen used for distillation purposes; and that in the caseof dried fruit treated in a packing' shed: as aforesaidevidence is produced to the satisfaction of the:Boardthat such fruit, upon being: treated' as isforaid,, hasbeen found to be unfit for sale for human consump-tion.

7. All dried fruit sold for, manufacturing, pm-posesshall be included in the Australian quota prescribed; orotherwise :tletermined by the Board for or in relation, tothe grower by whom such dried fruit was produced.
