We are a global leader in the commercial fitness industry, and are proud to announce the launch of our “Expect Different” campaign.

This campaign for change was created in response to the worldwide health and fitness crisis. As our company’s leadership recognized the global situation was spiraling out of control and then reviewed our own strategic direction, we realized there was so much more it should and could do.

The statistics are staggering. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), between 1980 and 2000 obesity rates doubled among adults. Globally, there are currently more than 1.6 billion overweight adults, at least 400 million of them obese, and the numbers are rising.

WHO estimates that more than 180 million people worldwide have diabetes. This number is likely to more than double by 2030.

In 2005, an estimated 1.1 million people died from diabetes and it is projected that diabetes deaths will increase by more than 50% in the next 10 years without urgent action.

“There is an answer to this epidemic,” said Steve Nero, president and COO of Star Trac. “It starts with an increase in physical activity. And we’re in the right business to help lead the change that is required. We’re starting with the vision for our company. Rather than focusing on delivering product, we’re focusing on the real, meaningful impact we can make on the world. Our vision is to increase the number of people who adopt a healthy and active lifestyle.”

This shift in focus is reflected in Star Trac’s product development, on-going commitment to education and training, and increased consumer outreach and support.

Expect Different is about a new way of thinking. The world is in desperate need of a change in its health and fitness attitudes and practices.

Star Trac is committed to doing its part to inspire this change. We invite you to join us.

Developing products to mold lifelong habits for health and fitness is not just a statement, it is a mission and a commitment to people that Star Trac has been delivering upon since the brand was founded in 1979. An international force in the fitness equipment industry, Star Trac is the fastest-growing privately-held fitness equipment company in the world. Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., the 500-plus-employee company maintains manufacturing offices in Irvine, Calif., Murrieta, Calif., and Taiwan with service locations in the United Kingdom, Barcelona, Munich, and Singapore.

Star Trac persistently redefines the way fitness equipment is designed, drawing inspiration from the end-user and top design engineers to elevate the function and style of the design and continually enhance the user experience. Guided by a structured methodology, researchers and designers work with hundreds of test users of all shapes, sizes, and levels of fitness to study their workout habits and preferences to produce equipment, which has gone through rigorous testing. Innovations such as the first integrated water bottle holder, personal fans, and integrated iPod® connectivity ports showcase Star Trac’s commitment to developing state-of-the-art, user-focused equipment.

Star Trac pioneered the treadmill in 1987 when they introduced the first DC-powered commercial treadmill to the market and has continued to improve upon it, propelling the company as a commercial treadmill category leader. In 2002, Star Trac launched a full

line of distinctive cardio products, raising the bar as a best-in-class provider. Star Trac introduced four complete strength lines after purchasing Flex Fitness and HumanSport™ in 2004, positioning the company as a full-facility solutions provider.

Star Trac continues to see exciting growth through its existing partnership with Spin Fitness™, the creators of Spinning® and the comprehensive Spinning® education program. As the exclusive manufacturer of Spinner® bikes, Star Trac currently has more than 50 percent of the global market share of group cycling bikes.

In an effort to expand entertainment offerings, Star Trac partnered with MYE™ Entertainment to secure its position as the only global MYE Entertainment distributor in North America. MYE Entertainment’s offerings include wireless audio systems, personal LCD TV viewing systems, MYE Netpulse Fitness Download Stations, and the Netpulse N4i Broadband Entertainment System.

Looking into the future of the health and fitness industry, Star Trac became impassioned to make a positive impact on the global obesity crisis with its “Expect Different” platform. While much of the world remains on the sidelines of this growing epidemic, Star Trac is taking a new, proactive approach and making an unparalleled commitment to improving the health and lives of people worldwide.
