For this group project, here are some things to keep in mind:

• Explain who is your client, their objectives and yours.• Your presentation delivery is crucial• Don’t forget to use a variety of visual aids props• The more professional you present yourselves the more

successful you will be• Also, be supportive of the other teams

A few key points

To repeatThe funders will rate your presentation based on

• Their understanding of your client’s services• The clarity of your PowerPoint presentation (where they

clearly see the value of your organization for the community as per their objectives)

• The professionalism of your team• The quality of the Team Packet submitted (prepare only one

packet which I will pass around to the Funders).

•They will determine how much funding they will be giving your company.

Who is your client?

• Explain the external environment in which the organization operates

• Understand competitors and constituents• Recognize the strengths and weaknesses of organization• State why your client’s business is important and should

be better known in the community

Stick to crucial points

• Try to cover things that make your project unique or things that really stand out as issues in your minds!

• You are trying to sell us your client and you would like us to invest in them.

• Your time is short, make the best of it.

Organization’s Mission Statement

• State their Mission Statement

• If possible, state their Objectives

• Explain how the organization tries to attain their objectives

• List the data which proves their effectiveness, or at least a need for your client’s organization

• Try to find as many sources as possible showing us the importance of your client’s worth

Presentation Delivery Style

• Logical structure of presentation• Appropriate introduction and conclusion

• Tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them, and then tell them what you told them

• Clear statement of the problem investigated and overview of presentation

• Key “takeaways” are clear• Appropriate transitions• Teammates well coordinated and “in sync”

Visual Aids

• Use of PowerPoint is expected

• Should enhance the presentation

• Should facilitate understanding of the key points, without being too wordy – Remember the technique that we talked about

• Should be professional looking – careful on spelling, grammar, etc.

• Use third person, as with written report

• Clarify/Repeat the question (for the rest of the audience)• Don’t be defensive!• It’s OK to pause and think before answering or to consult

with your teammates (or even to say “we will have to get back to you on that”)
