How mentoring works

You will have:

Your own personal company mentor •  The person who knows you best and works with

you for the whole year

Access to flash mentors •  From a marketing expert to someone who is an

insider in the industry you are trying to break into, these people join you for short period of time to quickly help you solve a problem

•  We currently have 45 of these and we can usually find the right person if we don’t have them already. Unless it’s The Queen. But we’d give it a go.

Mentoring mindset •  You, the member, are

in the driving seat

•  Ask for what you want

•  Mentors will say yes/no

•  Constantly refine the skills of getting the help and access from people you’re not paying.

•  Build strong relationships so every mentor becomes a supportive member of your tribe

Some of the mentors on the team

•  Richard Stobart – CEO of Unboxed and Lean Start Up Expert

•  Simon Lloyd – UK HR Director, Santander

•  Joolz Lewis – Author of “Enlightened Business” and customer excellence coach •  Michael Evans – CEO of GreenTide and sustainable business inventor/innovator

•  Michelle Brailsford – ex People Director at BBC Worldwide, now new paradigm business coach

•  Liz Hayward – CEO of Onefish Twofish (Carrie’s original company)

•  Miranda Birch – BBC journalist and corproate story teller

•  Rob Catton – Cambridge Judge Business School Graduate, entrepreneur and mentor •  Mike Pegg – ‘grandfather’ of the Strengths Movement and serial author and speaker

About Generation 1

We first ran 50th Generation in Cambridge in 2014-15. Here’s what happened…

Generation One – Cambridge We started with 8 companies, 13 directors and 50+ products in development across the companies. We looked for the brightest, most forward thinking, open, innovative minds we could.

Green Air Cars and Conservation Careers mapping their value propositions

Gen 1 members – doing their thing

Gen 1 members – doing their thing

Speakers: Tom Druitt, award winning social entrepreneur

Red wine meets red bull A big part of the incubator was bringing corporates to the start up world and showing start ups what it takes to build a big company. We happily mixed the Red Bull of entrepreneurs with the red wine of corporates.

Speakers: Dr Dave Hall - leading research expert in innovation

Speakers: Shell Foundation’s Jose Molina

Meet three companies from Gen 1

•  Premium, no-carbon airport shuttle company

•  Doubled in revenue and profit during year in accelerator

•  Finalist in Shell Springboard competition

•  The largest careers site in the world for jobs in conversation

More about the mindset and culture

…. Because it’s culture that makes accelerators work as well as businesses!

Make money

“Do good”

AND

The world is abundant

Understanding and satisfying customers with agility creates endless value

Income follows asset

Sharing asset creates ownership

Culture creates as much value as product

We believe it’s AND:

We built 50th Gen to be… For humans, not super-humans – we’re all on a journey and we’re all real people not entrepreneurial machines.

Encouraging not constraining, creating not reducing choice.

Win-win-win – everything and everyone adds value to everything else. No energy, money or resources are wasted.

Easy to join in one year increments, easy to leave. No ties.

A community based on love not fear.

“CHOICE is at the heart of 50th Generation YOU decide what’s useful and what isn’t, how to spend your time, when to contribute and when to take.

Worn down by other accelerators? .

Exhausted at the thought of all the stuff? .
