An introduction …

WHO ARE WE ?

• We represent IIT Kharagpur’s entry into the Formula SAE collegiate design series.

• In simple terms, we build a car that we have designed and pit it against cars from round the world. With funds we have managed to arrange.

• We have been participating in Formula Student U.K. for the last two years with considerable success.

Now, you must be wondering what is Formula Student/Formula SAE ??

WHAT IS FORMULA SAE ?

• Formula SAE encompasses all aspects of the racing business. From research & design to manufacturing & testing and marketing, logistics, management & finance.

• Events are held across five continents and 100’s of universities participate in it, building their own cars. The cars are judged in three different categories: static inspection of engineering design, solo performance trials and high performance track endurance. These events are scored to determine how well the university has performed with their car.

• Formula Student is the largest of the Formula SAE events in terms of the number of teams and the kind of personalities associated with it. It is held at the Silverstone Circuit , the home of the British Grand Prix.

WE HAVE ALSO ..• Been one of the only five teams from all of

India to be a part of this prestigious event.• Stood 9th in the cost report analysis in our first

year.• Been Nominated for the AIRBUS Teamwork

Award for two consecutive years.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR ?

o A bunch of crazy ,enthusiastic engineers who like to :

• Create rather than just Observe

• Perform rather than just Promise

• And lastly have a lot of FUN :)

• If you are even slightly interested in designing, building or testing a full scale formula car prototype, then you are at the right place.

• Nobody knows everything from start, so we don’t expect you to know everything from the start. What we need is the temperament, will to work hard and a slight bit of common sense. You will learn everything else along the way.

• This project is open for students of all departments. There is a lot to learn from the highly experienced and resourceful people of the team.
