SoundThe gun is the main sound throughout the opening of Momento, the sound builds suspense and makes the audience wonder what’s happening. The sound of the gun is diegetic as the gun is part of the mis-en-scene.

Cinematography 1• This still is a close

up of the main characters face, his face takes up the whole frame. He is looking down towards the floor and he has an intense expression which suggests that he is focusing on something in particular.

Cinematography 2This still is a mid-shot with perhaps a slight low angle, as though we were the man on the floor who is looking. The low angle shows that he has more power. In this shot you can see part of the building around him.

Editing 1This still focuses on the glasses which are covered in blood. The cameraman has tried to use an angle which gives the audience an idea of what may have happened. The glasses and blood on the wall build suspense and make the reader want to know what's going to happen.

Editing 2This still is a Medium close up, most of the frame is taken up by his head, however you can still see the glasses on the floor next to him and the blood around his head.

SettingThis still gives the audience a rough idea of what the setting looks like. A derelict room which is covered in blood. In the picture the room looks as though it has white tiling, however, it is hard to tell at this point of the film.

NarrativeThis still makes the reader question what they think the movie will be about. There is already blood around the walls before he kills him so it makes the audience wonder if that is his first victim or whether he was beaten before. People may begin to recognise that the story may be about a murder.

TitlesThe title first appears in front of a black screen and then in front of the man holding the picture. The bold blue letters really make the title stand out, along with all of the credits which follow. The title is quite plain and doesn’t really give away any hints towards the narrative of the film.
