Sideways Learning

Preview:

DESCRIPTION

Three methods of learning: top down through formal lectures, bottom up through experience, and sideways through mindfulness. Mindful learning is open to the new, alert to differences, sensitive to the context, not afraid of multiple perspectives, and trying to be in the present as much as possible. It can follow distractions for discoveries, regard obstacles as opportunities, turn work into play—make 'have to' into 'get to'—and cherish honesty with oneself about how I learn best.
