Friday 13 - Sunday 29 MayVenues across Norwich and Norfolk

A packed programme of international theatre, music, art, literature and free outdoor

events, including commissions, premieres and unique performances. This year’s

headline events include a production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest that transforms

Great Yarmouth Hippodrome into a magical island, Wild Life – a collaboration

between CAMPO’s Pol Heyvaert, Kim Noble and ten young singer-songwriters –

and a cinematic soundscape, Walk With Me, at the National Trust’s Felbrigg Hall.

In England’s first City of Literature, stories and ideas come from writers, poets and

activists and in venues large and small musicians from across the world perform. Plus

Pulse Festival Ipswich is a part curated, part open application

ten day festival focusing on new and innovative approaches, offering a bright and

inspiring snapshot of contemporary theatre and performance.

This year’s festival includes new work from internationally-celebrated Gecko

Theatre, and the Suitcase Prize, where performers are challenged to bring an entire

show to the festival on public transport in

one suitcase.

Friday 24 June - Sunday 4 SeptemberVarious locations in Norwich

Widely recognised as the UK’s most ambitious and influential contemporary art

exhibition, the British Art Show is coming to the East for the first time. Over 100

works by more than 40 artists, chosen for their contribution to art over the past

five years, will be on show at Norwich Castle, Norwich University of the Arts’ St

George’s Building, East Gallery and the Forum.

This is a Hayward Touring exhibition organised in collaboration with galleries in

Leeds, Edinburgh, Norwich and Southampton.

Friday 10 - Sunday 26 JuneAldeburgh and Snape Maltings, Suffolk

Aldeburgh Festival is one of Europe’s top classical music festivals and it’s much

more than that too. This year’s highlights include Catalogue d’Oiseaux, a sunrise-

to-midnight journey through music and nature set against the Suffolk coast’s

panoramic backdrops of reeds, water and sky, and Illuminations – the world

premiere of a newly-commissioned staging of a Benjamin Britten song cycle fusing

music and contemporary circus performance. Plus walks, talks, the 30+ non-

classical events of The Pumphouse fringe and free music every lunchtime on the

Bandstand on the Beach.

Latitude is the pioneering – and award-winning – music and arts festival, set within

the magical woodland grounds of Henham Park. With its unique line-up, it has fast

September 2016, bringing award-winning authors to the UNESCO City of Literature.
