Meeting in Italy

In the period between the 17th and 23rd of May partners in the project Young citizens if Europe – our future. The path of knowing, growing and understanding. had a meting in Italy.The title of the meeting was“Learning by doing” and it was hosted by I.C. Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa in San Giovanni La Punta, near Catania.Our representatives were 3 students:Iva Paradžiković, Luka Jukić,Borna Bukulin, accompanied bythe headmistress Adrijana Cvrković-Lasić and teacherGordana Maršić.

A great welcome ceremony.

Students and teachers attended different lessons conducted by teachers and guest students.

Our future citizens must take care of their health, so we learned about healthy food.

We will need new sources of energy, so 3 partner schools constructed solar powered model cars.

Bellini, a famous Italian composer, has a museum in Catania

Cathedral of st. Agatha, patron saint of Catania.

We visited many sights of Catania, which has lots of interesting stories from the past. One of them is about an elephant Liotru.

We learned about the WW2 and the liberation of Sicily.

In a well-known vocational high schol in Nicolosi students had the opportunity to prepare regional dishes.

Acitrezza, a touristic town at the seaside, is famous for its small islands, big stones thrown into the sea by Polifem.

Aci Castello, a castle built by the Normans in the 11th century.

Etna, the only active volcano in Europe.

Cable car took us to 1900m above sea level, then wecontinued our trip on foot.

Planeterium in Zafferana and the lava museum are places where we had the opportunity to see and learn interesting things about universe, our galaxy, solar System and our only Earth.

Taormina, famous for the old amphitheatre

Naxos,peninsula formed by lava a long time ago, has beatuiful beaches.

Farewell party and going home.
