Hello all!
Welcome to our meeting!
Firstly, thank you PE John for running our last meeting. We had DGE Jun
Abellarand our interact club from MPNAG in attendance. That was quite
a guest list!
Speaking of our Interact club, our MPNAG club is requesting donations of
old clothes and the like that they can sell during their Christmas fund-
raising drive. Please coordinate with Chris at the secretariat should you
want to donate. They are requesting donations as their fund-raising sale
is tentatively scheduled for December 6th. They will surely appreciate it.
Our medical mission was quite a success. We joined our other fellow Zone 8 clubs, and Jose Rizal
University, to treat about 500 participants! Thanks PP Mike for your medical donation. We joined a
second medical donation project spearheaded by RC Mandaluyong West whereupon we gave the
extra medication to the Ita tribe in the Tarlac.
A delegation from RC Jeonju-Poongnam from Korea visited us on November 22nd. They gave us
additional medication for distribution, as well as visited the JRU ADG lab which they helped fund.
We treated them to a good old Filipino lunch care of Aristocrat Shaw and as they have been great
supporters of our projects, it felt good to show them our hospitality. Thanks to PP Albert for arrang-
ing this, and thanks to PP Ophie and PP Louie for the giveaways. I understand that PP Albert has
arranged another global grant in cooperation with them, and this is great news indeed.
Meanwhile, our DRAP Global grant project is well underway. Our kick-off date is December 8th , 7
AM, at the Mandaluyong City hall with the Red Cross, other Zone 8 clubs, and Mayor Abalos in
attendance. Do save the date! Thanks to PP Ito and PP Oscar for their additional support. PP Bert
and myself on the other hand, will support our global grant for livelihood training, spearheaded by
RC WackWack.
Lastly, some miscellaneous notes. We have 10 tickets for the TRF dinner to be held at the Sofitel
tomorrow, so please contact the secretariat if you want to come. Our Christmas party has been
moved to December 4th, at the request of the spouses committee. This will be held at the penthouse
of the EuroAsia building on Paterno street, San Juan. The Rotary speaker series is scheduled on
December 11 at JRU, with LTG Nelson Aspe as speaker, should he be able to make it. Our Christ-
mas gift giving is scheduled for December 13 at 10 Am at the Archbishop’ palace in Mandaluyong,
and special thanks goes to PP Diony for putting our packets together. I do hope to see all of our
members at one or all of these events.
That’s all the space I have here but we do have a lot going on as we strive to “LIGHT UP RO-
TARY.” Cheers!

Greetings to my fellow Rotarians!
We took a break from our regular meetinglast week to
welcome our guests from Rotary International District
3670 South Korea on Saturday morning. They were here
on a friendship visit but grabbed the opportunity to visit
the Jose Rizal University Information Technology Cen-
ter also known as the JRU Lab. The Lab was sponsored
by the Rotary Club Mandaluyong, the entire Rotary Phil-
ippine District 3800, RC Pudu District 3300 Malaysia, RC Kiryu West Dis-
trict 4800 Japan, the Rotary Foundation Matching Grant No. 76802 and the
home district of our South Korean friends. It was my first-time to visit the lab
and was quite impressed with the project especially seeing the output of the
students all layered on the floor. A testament to the wonderful synergy of the
arts and technology. I saw how our friends from South Korea were visibly
excited as well for this effort of Rotary together with JRU.
But I was even more excited to see our guests enjoy Filipino cuisine when we
had lunch at the Aristrocrat Restaurant in the S & R complex in Manda-
luyong. A big thank you to PP Ophie Reyes and his daughter for taking care
of the arrangements for lunch. Our guests in the long table even ordered a sec-
ond round of chicken which I thought was a compliment to arguably the best
barbecue chicken in the Philippines. We hope that our guests from South Ko-
rea experienced Filipino hospitality at its best, the ROTARY way!
December is only a few days away. Two important things come to mind.
First, our RC Mandaluyong Christmas Party is set for Thursday, 4 December
2014 from 630PM-1030PM. Venue to be announced soon. Second, we are
approaching the close of the first half of the RC year 2014-2015. It’s a good
time to reflect on where we’ve been as a club and how we can LIGHT UP
ROTARY even more in 2015.

Good afternoon, fellow Rotarians.
A lot of activities happened this past week. One
behalf of our club, I would like to thank Pres.
Gion together with all our club officers and
members who made all of these activities
successful.
The reception ceremony for the Korean delegates at JRU
computer Laboratory is particularly worth mentioning. Seeing all
of them wearing the same outdoors uniforms descending from the
tourist bus is already a scene to behold. Although only a few of
them understand English, you can feel the passion in every one of
them to reach out and help make a change.
While Christmas is fast approaching, tons of activities await us.
While quite a number of our members responsed positively to our
request of settling their club dues before the year end, others have
yet to remit their payment to us.
Again, for those who is too busy and wish to have their cheques
picked up instead, you can contact me anytime if you need our
secretariat to go to your residence or workplace. (0917-5222580)
Happy Holidays to all.
