Hello all and welcome to our second meeting of the year. It’s great to

be back, and I bring greetings from our former club member Simon

Wong, who is now based in San Francisco.

If there is a RY theme for the past week, then that theme is definitely

catch-up and plan ahead. The district has released the schedule of

events for the latter half of the Rotary year; the district awards criteria

have been given out; PP Herman has been closing out our involve-

ment at the November Youth conference; and the secretariat has

been busy fixing our records. RYLA is at the end of January; PETS

is in the middle of February; and Discon is towards the end of

March. Add to that miscellaneous administrivia, deadlines, and various district events, and the

months from January to March are busy indeed.

That has not stopped our club members from focusing on our primary goal, which is service.

PP Albert and myself have been certificating our Global Grants for Rotary International; PE

John has been busy beginning to put together his team and putting together the finishing

touches for of MPNAG Kitchen project; and our partner the Mandaluyong Red Cross is begin-

ning to put together the budgets and plans for our Disaster Relief and Prevention project with

the participation (soon) of Sec. Ed Calanog. I have also begun working with our other partner

Jose Rizal University to plan for our Rotary Day, which could feature a talk by Rtn. Oliver

Salud.

The District is hoping to implement its Person’s With Disabilities flagship project on January

28, and as we look forward to the next six months, we additionally hope to activate our last-

mile funding program for students, implement our speaker series, close out our MPNAG

kitchen program, begin our DRAP project, recruit members to grow our club, and maintain our

100% EREY and sustaining member status. By doing so, we can truly remain one of the

strongest clubs in the district and I know we can do it!

A shout-out goes to PE John for organizing a great fellowship lunch last week at the Summer

Palace restaurant of our home hotel. It was great to see Rtn. Ulf there. A similar kudos goes to

PN Josh for a job well done at the auditions for the DISCON talent night held two weeks ago.

Josh is going the extra mile and is planning to audition for one of the lead roles this Saturday.

RCM’s got talent!

With these in mind, we do have a lot going on as we strive to “LIGHT UP ROTARY” in the

final stretch of this Rotary year. Do keep in step by checking http://bit.ly/rcmanda for our face-

book page, http://bit.ly/rcmcalendar for our calendar, or http://bit.ly/rcmmag for our Magdalo

issues.

Cheers!

LIGHT UP AND BE A GIFT TO THE WORLD!

Greetings to my fellow Rotarians! A blessed 2015 to all!

We are back to regular programming after the long holiday sea-

son, which included the lull in normal activities to give way to

the recent visit of Pope Francis I. It was truly a spectacle to have

the leader of the Catholic Church and head of the Vatican come

and visit our country, his first visit since he assumed the role.

Today, we welcome our special guest from our sister club RC Golden Mile Hong

Kong. Welcome RTN. JACQUELINE MULLER! We hope you enjoy your visit with

us.

As we start the New Year, we also commence the 2nd half of Rotary Year 2014-2015.

In case some of you have forgotten our theme this year because of the extended

holidays, we are called to LIGHT UP ROTARY. Interestingly enough, the theme for

Rotary Year 2015-2016 “Be a gift to the world” has made its debut on our Yahoo

group and even on Facebook.

Despite the new Rotary year looming in the horizon, there is still much to be done for

the remainder of the year. Pres. Gion asked me to attend the 4th Breakfast Meeting at

Valle Verde Country Club last 10 January 2015 and we were pleasantly surprised to

see the line-up of upcoming activities. Most noteworthy is the DISCON slated to

happen on 20-21 March 2015 at the Manila Hotel. Early registration is now closed but

registration is still on-going albeit without the discount. I am happy to report that I

have booked my seat for the event and I encourage all of us to do the same. I am sure

it will be a blast like the one I attended last year highlighted by the colorful and

creative Zone presentations.

Let us try to SHARE Rotary to our friends and associates this New Year. Although

we have membership goals to meet, we know that there is more to Rotary than simply

meeting what is required or even expected of us. Keep the flame burning as we forge

ahead and LIGHT UP ROTARY!

By: Sec. Edwin

Good afternoon, fellow Rotarians.

I believe most of us are still in holiday mood

this week after the long vacation last week

as we greeted Pope Francis in his official

visit to our country. For those of us who

stood for hours just to take a glimpse of the Pope, I hope all

of you had a great inspiring experience.

Unwilling as we are, we need to once again face our

challenges and continue with our daily activities. That being

said, I will once again remind everybody to kindly settle their

club dues as soon as possible to help us meet our obligations.

With the list of activities lined up for the coming months, it

will be quite a challenge for us to allocate financial resources

for each and every activity.

Again, for those who are too busy and wish to have their

cheques picked up instead, you can contact me anytime if

you need our secretariat to go to your residence or

workplace.

"What A Wonderful World"

I see trees of green, red roses too.

I see them bloom, for me and you.

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue, and clouds of white.

The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night.

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky.

Are also on the faces,

Of people going by, I see friends shaking hands.

Saying, "How do you do?"

They're really saying, "I love you".

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow,

They'll learn much more, Than I'll ever know.

And I think to myself, What a wonderful world.

Yes, I think to myself,

What a wonderful world.

Oh yeah.
