This 17 day adventure takes you off the tourist path to enjoy the colours, natural beauty, ancient wonders and cultural richness of South India. Delight in interacting with the local people and marvel at the spiritual depth permeating their everyday lives. This beautiful journey will enrich your life and uplift your spirit.

Departing from Chennai on 14th January 2015, highlights include, ancient cultural monuments and temples, a wildlife sanctuary, a Hindu Nuns orphanage and school, a visit to a Tibetan monastery, the magnificent Mysore Palace, backwaters houseboat trip, colourful markets and festivals plus great shopping opportunities and mouth-watering cuisine

Day One

Arrive in Chennai and transfer to your lovely beach resort in Mamallapuram, a vibrant fishing town. Day Two

Go on a morning guided tour of seventh century world heritage monuments. Then enjoy a free afternoon; visit the fabulous shops, relax by the resort’s beachside pool or go for a stroll on the beach.

Day Three

Drive to Tiruvannamalai, situated at the base of the holy mountain, Arunachula, a pilgrimage centre for 100’s of years. Visit the hermit caves,

Discover the heart and soul of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.

Sri Ramana Maharshi’s ashram and a temple.

Day Four

Drive to the lovely French-influenced town of Pondicherry where you will enjoy a delicious organic lunch at Quiet healing Centre – part of Auroville International Community. Visit the Matri Mandir, Ganesha Temple and other sights.

Day Five

Drive to Tanjore and visit some wonderful ancient sacred sites and temples.

Day Six

This morning you will go on a guided tour of the beautiful Brihadishwara temple (built in 1010) and the palace museum. In the afternoon visit a local village for lunch and meet residents. Day Seven

Visit Sri Lalita Hindu Nuns orphanage and school to enjoy a delicious traditional South Indian lunch and meet the friendly children. Drive to Madurai where you will witness the ‘intense’ evening ceremony at the worldfamous Sri Meenakshi temple.

Day Eight

Go on a guided tour of Thirumalai Nayak Palace. After lunch, enjoy a scenic drive to Periyar and in the evening enjoy the Kalaripayyat demonstration.

Day Nine

Today we have a spice gardens tour followed

by a relaxing backwaters houseboat trip (with lunch) in Alleppy. We then drive to the charming historic town of Cochin.

Day Ten

Go on a guided tour of Cochin to see India’s oldest church and synagogue and other great sights. In the evening, you will witness an exotic Kathakali dance performance.

Day Eleven

Enjoy some free time in Cochin before we drive to Mettupalayam for an overnight stay.

Day Thirteen

Delight in the breathtaking mountain scenery as you take a train ride to Ooty. Drive to Mudumalai Wildlife Park for an afternoon safari.

Day Fourteen

Start the day with a morning trek and then visit IPAN animal shelter/farm. Enjoy free time in the afternoon before a visit to the elephant camp and river where

the elephants bath and feed.

Day Fifteen

After breakfast, drive to Mysore, visiting a Tibetan monastery en-route. Enjoy a traditional Tibetan lunch as well as the lovely hospitality of the friendly monks. In the afternoon you will visit Chamundi Hill & temple.

Day Sixteen

This morning we have a guided tour of the mag-nificent Maharaja’s Palace where you will see the lively and colourful fruit & flower market. Enjoy some free time in the afternoon to relax, shop or explore, then in the evening, experience a vibrant cultural performance and dinner.

Day Seventeen

After breakfast, enjoy free time for last minute shopping or exploring. In the afternoon, drive to Bangalore for a final group dinner before you fly home.
