HOTEL DIGITALMARKETING

GUIDE TO

BY KONSTANTINOS MOURATIS | DIGITAL MARKETING& PR MANAGER @IP DIGITAL

Having or managing a hotel can be challengingand very demanding as it is.

Add the digital revolution to that, where yougot to constantly put yourself out there andpromote everything you do and you gotyourself a headache.

But fear not, for I am here to show you how toeasily and simply create a solid digitalpresence that can guarantee you a success, in 7simple steps.

1. Define your strengthsThe first step that everyone seems to know and alwaysforget about.

Find out what is the one or two things that define yourhotel. Don't just think but ask!

Take advantage of your reviews on sites likeTripAdvisor and see what your customers are alreadysaying about you. It can vary from "nice view" to "nearcenter location" to "very kind hosts".

Choose a good side cause from now on, this could be yourfront.

2. Create a blogSocial Media posts about statuses are never enough.People need to have a place where they can findinformation about what you do besides your facebookpage.

Creating a blog and using it to upload rich content aboutyour hotel, its services, events, guests etc. is a great wayto gain traffic.

Define your writing style, the way you will address yourreaders, personas and who is going to update.

Also don't be sloppy. Make sure the whole designmatches your hotel's colours and philosophy.

3. Social MediaSo you know what people like about you and pretty soon you aregoing to have some content to show about it.

Now its time for you to see how to promote it. ENTER Social Media.

Create profiles to every network that you think relate to what youdo (the standard case is Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest,g+).

There is no need to share the same posts in every network. i.e.Work with beautiful view photos with instagram and recipes fromthe hotel's chef with pinterest.

Never forget the Call-to-actions. Make sure that it's very easy foreveryone to find info about your hotel and instantly interact withthem.

4. Plan AheadKeeping track of what you 've done so far and what you areplanning to do is in my personal opinion the most important stepof this process.

Create (or maybe find one, there are plenty of good tools outthere) an Editorial Calendar.

Import your initial plan of posts in there. After that look for localevents happening around your hotel and plan some posts aboutthem. This will draw visitors who want to attent those eventsand looking for a place to stay.

The purpose of this step is to keep an active presence that willincrease your user engagement and keep you from making amistake of posting the same thing twice by accident.

5. Create some viral contentNow viral may be a heavy word. Don't expect thousandsof people to start entering your blog out of a sudden.

However some posts are more successful than others. That happens due to many factors so be sure to use allthe available tools.

A nice photo is usually the first thing that draws thevisitor's attention. But if you want to get more visual, avideo will definitely create better emotions. Moreovergood writing is also extremely important so if you don'tfeel very Oscar Wilde-y it's best if you just hire aprofessional writer.

6. Create a Campaign

All the above are very good but unless your name is Hilton,it's highly unlikely that everybody talks about you.

That is why you need to put your hotel on the map and makeeverybody pay attention to you. This is where a campaignwith some good old(and new) marketing comes in.

A campaign can be something that promotes a seasonaldiscount or a contest with a free two day stay in the hotel.

Simply anything that can have a wide reach and quickeffect in leads capturing.

7. Use your leadsYou made everything right and now you have a satisfyingnumber of leads.

Don't concentrate on likes and shares. You are trying tomake money and your success isn't measured in followersbut conversions.

Gather all the information you can get on your leads andnow it's time to make something of it.

Create promotional offers, informative newsletters andanything that can make people say "WOW, I can't missthis!" and start sending it to the people you thing they areinterested in them. Do some follow ups and then start again.

That's All Folks

Like i said promoting your hotel is not that hard but it needssome attention to detail and some creativity. If you still think
