Ba Khan, a hidden paradise in Hoa Binh

No matter how long is your holiday to Vietnam, soul of traveling is more than anything

charming land. Ba Khan, Located 100km Northwest of Hanoi, Ba Khan is one of the

less visited and mysterious destination in the province of Hoa Binh, the Ba Khan town

includes 3 villages: Ha Khan, Khan and Khan Thuong Ho which lies on the slope of the

valley of Mai Chau and Moc Chau.

Getting to Ba Khan is not that difficult, from Hanoi, take the national road 6 to Hoa Binh

province, then follow a small path that takes you to Ba Khan, and keep drive for 20km to

reach the beautiful landscapes where Ba Khan is located in the mid lush valley.

It was once a large virgin mountain region but the area has become large dam water

following the construction of the hydroelectric plant in Hoa Binh in 1979. Until now, it is

an attractive place for all travelers and is better known by the name Ba Khan.

Admire a beautiful waterfall called Lao Mu which is not far from the center Ba Khan

lined from the middle of the bamboo forests, this is where many locals come to chil out

in summer time.

Follow the road down the waterfall toward the junction of San Phuc, and then turn right

to reach the path that leading you to the Hoa Binh Lake. You will be touched by such an

idyllic setting of lush landscapes of thousands of islands floating on the water where you

have chance to take a boat ride through the lake.

There are not much accommodation options in the area, in the Tan Mai town just next to

Ba Khan and about 5km from the waterfall there is a stilt traditional house where you

can home stay, the place is safe and it overlooks the bamboo forest and the lake. All of

the few home stays offer half a day boat trip in Hoa Binh Lake with reasonable prices.

Ba Khan is one of the best options for a 2 days trip from Hanoi as the area is suitable
