For a lot of people, capturing a 360 video of a destination is simple: it involves getting a rig, setting up 10 cameras, and pushing “rec”.
This approach causes the uniqueness of a location to be lost & beautiful destinations start to look pretty much the same.
THE BIGGEST MISTAKE WITH TOURISM & TECHNOLOGY
The truth is that capturing video, even if VR video, is not that complicated anymore.
What’s difficult is capturing the essence of a destination, determining what makes it unique, & understanding how you’ll transmit that across a VR experience.
DO IT RIGHT. FOCUS ON ESSENCE
This SXSW Talk will discuss:
● How to listen and observe for a locations essence
● Translating that essence into the story for a VR video
● Examples and questions to ask yourself to help you determine that unique factors you should focus on in your storytelling
● Best practices for filming destinations in VR
You’ll be able to select the moments and locations that distinguish that specific destination and turn them into sneak peek of paradise.
A PICTURE IS WORTH 1,000 WORDS.AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE IS WORTH MUCH MORE
Picture this, you’re at home and you receive a package from your favorite hotel chain with a Google Cardboard and a note inviting you to their latest hotels.
You download the app on your phone, put the VR device on, turn around and you’re in the pool area of an amazing hotel in Egypt, a few seconds later you’re in front of the ocean in New Zealand, then you're enjoying the Bahamas.
It's that simple.
Now that you’ve experienced each place for a brief moment, all of the sudden you remember you don't have plans for Memorial Day...
A SNEAK PEEK OF TRAVEL, FROM YOUR LIVING ROOM
