Africa & Middle East: Air time as currency - The Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF) reports that its 2014 survey found Kenya still the dominant mobile money player with 93 percent of consumers using their mobile device to undertake banking. But there is also significant usage in the Middle East (78 percent) and Nigeria (85 percent up from 76 percent in 2013). The survey found that 44 percent of Africans transfer airtime as a form of currency versus a global average of 17 percent.
Africa & Middle East: Million a month - Ooredoo has launched microfinance programs in Tunisia and Indonesia, and claims to manage more than a million transactions a month in Qatar, Tunisia and Indonesia; it claims particularly strong growth in Indonesia in 2014. It plans to launch services in Iraq and Myanmar in the coming months.
Africa: Spam stopper - Swedish-based Truecaller, a mobile application that allows users to identify unknown incoming calls and block calls, claims to have some 7 million users in sub-Saharan Africa, ITWeb reported Chief Strategy Officer Nami Zarringhalam as saying. At the end of 2014 growth was approximately 500 percent, compared to the same period in 2013. Truecaller uses a community based spam list driven by the more than 100 million users globally. It is currently focusing on Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana.

Saudi Airlines
Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia), the national flag carrier for Saudi Arabia, which joined the SkyTeam alliance on May 2012. Currently, Saudia flies to over 90 destinations of domestic and international flights, and has a total number of employees exceeding 44,000.
Saudia decided to mobilize the internal business processes for HR, Finance and corporate services. They selected SAP mobile platform technology to ease the development, distribution and maintenance of the apps. They selected Mocana technology to enable BYOD.
