for a total value of 23,5 mio €
TOWARDS WORLD LEADERSHIP IN RENEWABLE ENGERGY
TECHNOLOGY AND ELECTRICAL INFRASTRUCTURE
• Subprojects:
• Intelligent networks (smart grids)
• Infrastructure for PV (photovoltaïcs)
• Offshore wind energy research infrastructure (4.8 mio €)
Project charter: problems
• Flemish companies miss access to test infrastructure and
datasets to support and accelerate their innovation process
• Offshore wind energy needs an increase in efficiency & uptime
• Wind resource mapping, modeling siting, performance monitoring
• KT weather forecasts grid balancing, O&M
• Endurance testing of components robust turbines, risk mgt
• CMS O&M, risk mgt
• O&M management tool increase uptime, reduction of O&M costs
• Larger turbines (multi-megawatt) innovation
• Not enough clustering of local players need of a ecosystem
• Wind energy is not enough covered by the Belgian academia

order to build up wind/meteo datasets & models
• Access to wind turbine(s) – test capacity

to test big components
• Performance & Condition Monitoring Systems + SHM
• Management tool for O&M

• Specify, purchase and make test infrastructure operational
• Grant access to test infrastructure for Flemish (& EU) companies
• (offshore) wind energy
• spillovers
• Start-up of innovation projects for offshore wind energy

• Set-up and deliver support with proposals O&O projects, FP7,SET,…
