Dhaka Metropolitan Police has installed some state of the art intelligent camera and devices for tracking the vehicle and monitoring traffic at the end part of Dhaka metro area.

Now they want good solutions that can use those content.

• Inform citizens the status of the traffic jam

• Provide custom media reports • Receive and update situation reports

from crowdsourced platforms • Any other innovative solutions

To resolve Exam question paper leaks we rely on the honesty and judgment of individual people to disseminate the question papers and that in itself bears the key to the problem

The Education Board wants a solution where using technology this problem can be resolved

• QR code based encoding• Mobile monitoring and verification system

• Enhanced security solutions • Crowd-sourced whistle-blower solutions

• The solution needs to be practical and easy to implement in a national scale.

There are cyclone shelters all over the country with cyclone center management system. They also have a central damage & loss assessment system. Now they need a mobile, swift and easy to use system to complement their existing systems.

• Easier to update, user friendly mobile solution

• Support dissemination of early warning

• Coordination of resource mobilization

91% of the girls aged 10-18 years have experienced sexual harassment. Studies show that due to social oppression and

fear of retaliation the reported number is far less than the real number.

We need a solution where victims of sexual harassment can safely report the crimes

committed against them.

• Ensure personal safety• Connects women to safety

networks• Crowd sourced complain system • Awareness for violence against

women

Non-communicable diseases include heart disease, stroke, most cancers, asthma, diabetes, chronic kidney disease and more. They are the leading cause of death in the world, representing over 60% of all deaths.

• Awareness Solutions• Health Awareness Apps• Fitness Apps and tools

• NCD Risk Tracking

blind contortions, lack of awareness of safe road use, poor traffic

management and poor driver training are among many reasons for the high

levels of road traffic accidents.

• Traffic safety awareness• GPS enabled accident reporting app• Black-spot mapping• Crowd-sourced complain app against

bad drivers• personal accident safety apps• Black-spot alarm• Route declaration app

Questions to Ask

Paint me the Picture…..

What prompted you to…..

Let me share a Data Point….. Did I just see….

Walk through as you are the end user of the App, Describe don’t Prescribe

What Not To SayNational Mobile App Development Awareness and Capacity Building Program

National Hackathon

What not to Say

I don’t think….. If you do this way…

What I am looking for is….. In my experience ….

You are looking for extensibility at scale & looking at the functions and visuals, Guide don’t Tell

Problem Statement

You are looking for extensibility at scale & looking at the functions and visuals, Guide don’t Tell

Walk through as you are the end user of the App, Describe don’t Prescribe

You have seen and know the problem statement. Each team will rewrite ONLY the

Problem Statement. 5

ExerciseConstraints and Limits

National Mobile App Development Awareness and Capacity Building Program

National Hackathon

Constraints & Limits

Let’s put Constraints and Limits what you have for the solution. (Only the MUST ones).

Examples: 1) The solution must work with current and previous versions of

Android (3.2)2) This must provide user to send data anonymously but with GPS

location and mobile number3) Must store data in a backend database

CONSIDER PHASE APPROACH FOR VARIOUS SOLUTON COMPONENTS

ExerciseMust Resolve Issues

National Mobile App Development Awareness and Capacity Building Program

National Hackathon

Must Resolve Issues

Let’s clearly define what they must resolve for in the solution. (Only the MUST ones).

Examples: 1) The solution must collect data from DMP traffic database and

display in small phone with overlay of the map2) Must provide Single action (click/touch) transfer of phone number

and GPS data to Backend Database and Receive Callback.3) Must have online-offline capabilities4) Must use hands-free gestures/voice based actions 5

Minutes

ExerciseNice to Have Resolutions

National Mobile App Development Awareness and Capacity Building Program

National Hackathon

Nice to Have

Here you can provide some your PERSONAL or OPTIONAL elements (These are optional, but highly encouraged/carry

points).Examples: 1) It is nice to have streaming video from the phone; it is nice to have

periodic picture taken and stored in a backend database2) It is nice to have YouTube videos for health related topic3) We like to see that we can have pattern matching of photos4) We like to correlate the location data for pervious crimes

5Minutes

ExerciseTechnology Limitation

National Mobile App Development Awareness and Capacity Building Program

National Hackathon

Technology Limitation

Let’s clearly define what technology limitation they potentially could have and be aware of

Examples: 1) The backend data is not currently available2) Consider the server is in the cloud, so, internet access needs for

this app3) Only login using facebook is permitted4) Data will be posted in facebook with everyone to view

ExercisePotential Solution

National Mobile App Development Awareness and Capacity Building Program

National Hackathon

Potential solution

Let’s create between 1 and 2 solution(s) for the problemExamples: 1) An app will be using Android phone, allows user to send an

emergency text using hand gesture with validation; reduce falls negative and positive by also sending phone number, GPS location, instant photo of the location. Keep sending photos using camera every 5 minutes without user interaction. User can stop the process at any time. Data is sent directly to the nearest police station and DMP central dispatch. All data is stored in a backend database for future forensic and data intelligence.
