Prove the previous statement! You will be creating an iMovie using

Garageband and iPhoto Using a specific section of Dr. King’s “I

have a Dream”, you will find photos and movie clips that best illustrate the Civil Rights Movement.

Demonstrating through music, pictures and clips the feeling of the time in both a historic and contemporary sense.

1. Google “I have a dream mp3” and download the speech using the “file” + “save as” function.

2. Using the text provided and the audio, choose a segment of the speech that you think is most important and relevant to today’s society.

3. Edit the speech so that you have a 2-3 minute segment.

Research and save on your desktop Historical Pictures reflective of the Civil Rights Movement.

Research and save on your desktop historical news footage of the Civil Rights Movement.

Now you will create an i-Movie representing the dream of Martin Luther King. The content of this show should be reflective of this unit.

Use historical as well as contemporary photographs.

1. Content: Presentation must reflect the concept of tolerance and the dream that Dr. King envisioned. Pictures (at least 25) should show both historical examples (Unit review) and contemporary examples.

Pictures should coincide with the speech.

In researching technology in the classroom, I was unable to find research to support my use of i-Movie.

Will Richardson does support the theory that students have the abilities to research their own primary sources, changing the role of the teacher.

This project has the students leading the learning as the teacher guides as necessary.

This project allows students to develop their own appreciation for the Civil Rights Movement.

Using original photos and news footage, students will change their knowledge base at their own pace.

This will encourage original thought, empathy for historical events, and differentiated learning.

This learning tool will be very meaningful to the students.

What an incredible opportunity for them to find pictures that interest them.

level of understanding, at their own pace.
