Innovation and the Private Sector To ensure that innovation is happening in H2020 SME participation is obligatory in most projects. Around 20% of the total budget for Societal Challenges and LEITs must go to SMEs. 18. How to see where you are on the way to a product Technology readiness levels (TRLs) are measures used to assess the maturity of evolving technologies (devices, materials, components, software, work processes, etc.) during their development Generally speaking, when a new technology is invented it is not suitable for immediate application. Instead, new technologies are usually subjected to experimentation, refinement, and increasingly realistic testing. Once the technology is sufficiently proven, it can be incorporated into a system/subsystem. 19. FROM IDEA TO SUCCESS 20.
