"The Organization of Urban Re-s", OURs

In 1989, some socially oriented professionals, Architecture, urban planning,

and other fields, came together to devote themselves to the promotion

of urban reformation in Taiwan. In March of 1992, they registered as a legal

association. Our main work has been to help urban inhabitants to solve

their own community problems.

“The Organization of Urban Re-s”, OURs for short. We hold three main

beliefs and principles:

• Spontaneous organization: With shared values and common goals, our

members are spontaneously organized. The funding is basically from

donations of general citizens and professionals, and also from contract

work for public agencies.

• Community based reform actions: We are willing to participate and help

any community-action promoted by a group or individual. We hope to

actively raise the level of reform and to promote urban policy changes in a

collective way.

• Union between professionals and citizens: To break down professional

division of labor, and to learn from citizens, we seek to provide a context for

a union between professionals and citizens, where mutual learning and

support can flourish.

Fight for Living

I Snails-without-Shells Movement 1989 In those urban social movements, “living” is the issue that most are concerned with. In 1989, forty thousands people slept one night on Chung Hsiao East Rd_ the most expensive area of Taipei.

壹：無殼蝸牛運動 1989

在諸多的都市社會運動中，關於居住的議題引發最多的關注，在台北最貴的地皮上睡一個晚上成為最關鍵的「行動」。

II Progressive Planning After the Snails-without-Shells Movement, the newborn urban social movement does not only exist for living justice but also for concerns about living quality. Such as “Transformation of Local Environmental Plan” or “participatory community building” ,which are protection movement against profit focused real-estate development. 貳：進步式規劃新生的都市社會運動，除了居住的「無殼蝸牛運動」之外，關注於都市居住品質的「地區環境改造計劃」或是「社區營造」，以對抗經濟發展為主的都市發展取向的「都市保存」運動

> In addition to help the community consult with government, we also try to find a better way to protect the cultural heritage.

2. Social Housing • Priority to the underprivileged • Justice > Through NGO alliance, policy lobbying, strike movement and

introduction of other country's experience etc. It’s still a long way to go.

都市更新：強徵強拆後「法律行動」的採取：透過告訴，爭取法律支持的環境權益

3. Urban Renewal forced-expropriation, forced-eviction >Through legal action, fight for environmental rights.

都市計劃地瓦解：容積失控下的公共安全

4. Urban Plan is Collapsing： FAR (floor area ratio) is out of control in Taipei

> The public safety and living quality are strongly sensitive to the FAR.

> We take action through forums, publications, attendance to government

meetings and legal actions.

燃燒地圖2.0 處境：松菸、202、廣慈等大型都會綠地消失危機行動：網絡聯結，綠地花生報、綠地認養、修理市集、公有地作為公園使用、花博展館佔用公園論述
