General InformationBy Yasmine, Nicola, Karuna &

Arefeh

What is a sacrament?O The important

event/celebration in which the catholic community (church) marks the religious aspects and stages of their lives which initiate the relationship between believer and God ultimately bringing them closer

O A sacrament also makes visible the invisible grace if God.

What is it and what does it mean?

O This is the sacrament where the church celebrates the priests ability (wearing the purple stole); on behalf of the community and Holy Spirit, to forgive the sins of those who have turned away from God.

O Through this the penitent receives: Healing Renewal

Who does it involve?O It involves the priest and the

penitent.

O The priest is in-charge of healing the penitent

O It is up to the person to realise they have done wrong and confess

O The priest forgives their sins and gives them penance to pray to God allowing God to forgive them

What does it involve?O It involves understanding and

sorrow

O Through the elements of reconciliation, the penitent must be aware of their sin and want to mend their relationship with God through penance

O The priest must be understanding of the penitent’s sin and help them start from a fresh beginning.
