I'm thriving here at Portland Bible College but I'm also looking forward to the time God calls me home to Malaysia. We talk a lot about Local church here at school and every time I think of you and pray for my Church SSMC. I'm so excited to hear what God is doing in your midst and I want to see it for myself. 12 REASONS TO BE A CHURCH

IN A STATE OF PERMANENT REVIVAL

# 1 THE BROWNSVILLE REVIVAL • The Brownsville Revival began on Father’s Day June 18, 1995 at

Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida. • One of the characteristics of the Brownsville Revival was a call to holiness.

More than four million people are reported to have attended the meetings from its beginnings in 1995 to around 2000.

• After the sermons were over, hundreds of thousands accepted the invitation to leave their seats and rush forward to a large area in front of the stage-like altar to "get right with God."

• In 1993, two years before the revival began, Brownsville's pastor John Kilpatrick, began directing his congregation to pray for revival.

• On the Sunday the revival began, evangelist Steve Hill was the guest speaker. They told of "a mighty wind" that blew through the church that day.

• In time, the church opened its doors for Wednesday-through-Saturday evening revival services to accommodate the thousands of people who arrived and waited in the church parking lot before dawn for a chance to enter the packed sanctuary.

• Steve Hill said, "We're seeing miraculous healings and cancerous tumors disappear.”

Shortly afterwards when people in the congregation began laughing uncontrollably a mass exodus took place. An estimated 1,000 people left the church. But soon thousands more were streaming in.
