Learned About Teamwork
Our Strategy
We aimed to get an outside theatre group from New Bedford to act in the scripts that we would write, and be filmed by cable access company
We hoped the filming would be done by October 31st
Leaving enough time for us to record and analyze data for our completed project
New Bedford High School Drama Club~ (NBHS Drama Club) ~Community Partner
• Robert Perrotti – Originally contacted him, found out he was in charge of A/V at NBHS •Melissa Sheffield – Teacher
sponsor of the theatre company at NBHS• Aaron Valente- The director
of the theatre productions• Students of the theatre
company
- New Bedford Cable Access Company -
Community Partner • Dan Cabral – Was unable to get a
response from him• Jim Marshall – Is actually the
Manager of Dan Cabral and he assisted us in working with • Suzanne Richards – Was the lead
film director and editor for our project giving us a delivered video as fast as possible• Dana DeBarros – Worked with
Suzanne in filming the PSA’s for us
Our Team Dynamic
*Titles*Nicole – Team Leader, Kirsten – The Organizer
Kelly – The Enforcer/Script ExpertMatt – A Dedicated Follower
George – The Creative Assistant
5 Dysfunctions: How This Relates to Our Team
* We used this model to better our team and unite us, working together
towards our ultimate goal*
3 Core Problems
Obstacles To Overcome
1. Getting in touch with the wrong contacts2. Getting untimely responses3. Scheduling – Especially with the New Bedford High School Drama
students (and with each other as a team)4. Our community partners suggested our original five scripts were
over ambitious – so we had to cut down the number and revise them
5. Scripts were created based on a student cast, when New Bedford High School Drama students were unable to perform they had to be adjusted
6. Our original rap needed to be recorded prior to filming, however we did not have the resources to do so
The Script is a Grueling Process …
The Geico Parody:
• The original setting we had come up with was at a school cafeteria
• When the New Bedford High School Drama students dropped out
and we met with New Bedford Cable Access we had to change our
script to a work setting
The Script is a Grueling Process …
The Rap
• Originally when we formed this script it was a rap
• When discussing with the New Bedford Cable Access Company we realized
we would have to drop the beat separate from the filming and we did not
have the equipment for this
• Adapted script into a “poetry reading theme”

How We Met Our Goals

scripts2. Film and release 2 PSA's with New Bedford Cable Access Company
before Thanksgiving 2013.3. Get at least 200 YouTube views (collectively) of PSA's4. Get an A as a team5. Encourage recycling to those who don't
- Inform what should and should not go in blue bins6. Reach Spanish and English speaking residents in New Bedford and
surrounding area about the importance and benefits of recycling
Completion of Goals1. Recording of these commercials and uploading them onto YouTube
allows reviewing to happen endlessly2. Completed filming Friday November 15th - Received edited
commercials Wednesday November 20th 3. Have exceeded 200 views – Currently at 301 views on “Recycling
Monitor” and 301 on “Ode to Recycling”4. Fingers still crossed on getting an A on the project5. Information provided in our scripts and approved by Marissa6. Include Spanish speaking community with the recap of Marissa’s
information in Spanish
How We Met Our Goals
Project Criteria: How Our Team Met It
1. Service to community Partners2. ARD Event3. Community Involvement 4. Recycling Awareness5. Sustainability
What We Learned About Teamwork:
It is important to have conflictIt is important to be present to all meetingsWhen it comes to working with community
partners you need to have a back up plan to move on to if they are not responding.
Having a clear agenda before the start of a meeting leads to a more productive meeting.
Positive Attitudes Keep a POSITIVE TEAM!!
