Boot Image and Drivers

• Download the latest drivers from the manufacturers website

• Create new OS folders in your driver structure under Model.

• Remember – WINPE may use a different OS version of the driver then what you are upgrading too. Update your WINPE drivers too.

New Operating System

• Always import new base OS into deploy first – both x86 and x64 if you are going to support both.

• Then you can add multiple capture images• Use Group Policy to filter your images– Always test first with a test OU or GPO filtered

by a security group

Reformat or Reinstall???

• Default reinstall – uses CSE to boot into WINPE and saves user data–After reinstallation of OS (or upgrade) all of the

profiles are copied back–Must have Deploy Client Side Extension on the client

machine–Use for local profiles only

• Reboot and Reformat – uses a PXE boot and does not save any user data.

Clean up your profiles first!
