How To Use Your Vision and Mission

Statements

When Marketing Your Products or

Services Online

Importance of Vision & Mission

Vision, Mission and Strategy statements can be compared to a

compass for your business.

They help guide and direct in decision-making and expansion.

Vision and Mission help determine what your focus should be

and help shape the core principles that shape your

organization.

• Your Vision and mission will

act as an anchor in times of

confusion.

• They can also be used as

checkpoints to ensure that you

have not veered off course,

and that your business is still

on the right path.

• They provide a sense of calm

in times of distress because

you have already planned and

plotted a course that can be

clearly communicated and

understood by yourself and

others involved.

• Your Vision and Mission are

invaluable tools for marketing

online.

A Vision Statement

Your Vision Statement is where you want to be in the future;

where you see yourself going.

The Vision Statement is not elaborate, rather concise and clear.

Example:

ChrissyBiz Solutions will provide web marketing and business

writing solutions for businesses and nonprofits.

Mission Statement

Your Mission Statement is what motivates you to do what you

do regardless of difficulty or setbacks.

It is why you do what you do

It is what you hope to accomplish by doing what you do

Your Mission Statement should be inclusive, honest, and

purposeful.

Example:

To provide affordable and results-driven web marketing

solutions for businesses and nonprofit organizations.

Now it’s time for Strategy

Your vision and mission are critical to your operations, and equally as important to your business is how you will accomplish your mission and vision.

Your strategy is much more detailed and outlines what steps you will take to accomplish your mission and vision.

Example:

One part of the strategy for providing web marketing solutions for business is blogging about topics and resources that are most useful for businesses and nonprofits.

Another part of the strategy would include syndicating blogs through appropriate social media channels to drive traffic to the website.

+What Will Help Your Mission &

Vision

There are many vehicles to use online when marketing your products and services; ultimately choosing the ones that give the most return and fit more closely to your vision and mission determines what will work best. They include:

Pay Per Click Advertising

Newsletters

Blogging

FREE offers for lead generation: eBooks, White Papers, Case Studies, etc.

Youtube video marketing

Social media syndication

Webinars

Facebook Groups and Pages

Press Release Writing and Distribution

The amount of time and skill set you have at your disposal should not be the only determining factors.

Use Vision & Mission as Filters

Thinking of a new email marketing campaign?

Does it fall in line with your mission and vision?

Thinking of investing in new technology?

How does this help advance your vision and mission?

Vision and Mission Statements are more than what meets the

eye. They allow you to pass ideas and concerns through them

as filters. If they fit, proceed. If not, abort!

+Read them over and over and over..

You should keep your written vision and mission statements

where you can easily access them.

Consider putting them on a vision board or as a sticky note on

your laptop.

Constantly reminding yourself of what you hope to accomplish

with your business and why you want to do it will help motivate

you in times you feel discouraged.

Companies used to have them on their “About” pages but that

seems to have waned.
