On July 30, ASML jumped 11% in half a trading day.

Dutch investment blogs were initially puzzled. Owlin

readers knew, though: Owlin carried the market-moving

news from an American trade letter 1h26m before Dutch

news sources picked it up (at which point the stock had

already climbed 7,5%).

Timeline:

13:04: Electronics Weekly reports significant

technological advance of ASML subsidiary Cymer Inc, a

company acquired by ASML last year. ASML shares start

creeping up about 20 minutes later

14:17: Dutch news site IEX asks ‘what is going on?’

14:30: Dutch website ‘deaandeelhouder.nl’ is the first to

re-report the news from Electronics Weekly

17:00: ASML closes up 11%

Case: Imtech – Frits & MacziolZoom: 31 January – 21 February

On February 18 to the 19th at midnight, Imtech announced a fraud

investigation at its Swiss daughter Fritz & Macziol. The next day Imtech

opened 6% lower. However, the news around the fraud investigation was

already on the streets for weeks. But no Dutch news source picked it up

until then.

31 January: Swiss blog inside-it.ch announced fraud investigation at

Imtech

03 February: Imtech announces improvement in Germany.

04/05 February: More Swiss sources are reporting on fraud investigation.

11/13 February: “Topman Imtech commissaris bij de NS”

19 February: Via an official press release Imtech announces fraud

investigation, many sources publish the press release. Imtech drops 6%.
