Hello,

Greetings from RE/MAX Metro...!!!

Nepal was hit with a powerful earthquake , the tremor shattered lives, landmarks and the very landscape of the country. The death toll soon mounted into the thousands, with hundreds of thousands more homeless and aid agencies struggling to cope, we can just pray to god to rebuilt Nepal as it was and give strength to each and every Nepalese to overcome this tragic moment.

April was a good month for RE/MAX Metro where we closed 4 transactions which included a prelease property, 2 flats and & a rental deal. We are concentrating more now on getting listings of property which will result in closings with our positive efforts in planned way.

While the interest rate confusion has not gone down well in some of the property markets across the country, it seems that the consciousness level and the understanding of the business and the economy is much better in Gujarat in general and Ahmedabad and Vadodara in particular. Hence, the home buyers across the two cities are confident that the dawn of the new fiscal year 2015-16 is definitely encouraging..

Hope you all have a great holiday time with your children as schools have closed and you will also get a chance to take a break from work and spend quality time with family.

The earthquake occurred on 25 April 2015 at 11:56 a.m. NST at a depth of approximately 15 km (9.3 mi) (which is considered shallow and therefore more damaging than quakes that originate deeper in the ground), with its epicenter approximately 34 km (21 mi) east-southeast of Lamjung, Nepal, lasting approximately twenty seconds. The earthquake was initially reported as 7.5 Mw by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) before it was quickly upgraded to 7.9 Mw and finally downgraded to 7.8 Mw. The China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) reported the earthquake's magnitude to be 8.1 Ms. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said two powerful quakes were registered in Nepal at 06:11 UTC and 06:45 UTC. The first quake measured 7.9 Mw and its epicenter was identified at a distance of 80 km to the northwest of the capital Kathmandu. The second earth-quake was somewhat less powerful at 6.6 Mw. The seismic focus lay at a depth of 10 km (6.2 mi) below the earth's surface. Bharatpur was the nearest major city to the main earthquake, 53 km (33 mi) from the epicenter. The second earthquake occurred 81 km (50 mi) northwest of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Over thirty-five aftershocks of magnitude 4.5 Mw or greater occurred in the day following the initial earthquake, including the one of magnitude 6.6 Mw.

According to the USGS, the temblor was caused by a sudden thrust, or release of built-up stress, along the major fault line where the Indian Plate, carrying India, is slowly diving underneath the Eurasian Plate, carrying much of Europe and Asia. Kathmandu, situated on a block of crust approximately 120 km (75 miles) wide and 60 km (37 miles) long, reportedly shifted 3 m (10 ft) to the south in just 30 seconds.

The risk of a large earthquake was well known beforehand. In 2013, in an interview with seismologist Vinod Kumar Gaur, The Hindu quoted him as saying, "Calculations show that there is sufficient accumulated energy [in the MFT], now to produce an 8 magnitude earthquake. I cannot say when. It may not happen tomorrow, but it could possibly happen sometime this century, or wait longer to produce a much larger one."According to Brian Tucker, founder of a nonprofit organisation devoted to reducing casualties from natural disasters, some govern-ment officials had expressed confidence that such an earthquake would not occur again. Tucker recounted a conversation he had had with a government official in the 1990s who said, "We don't have to worry about earth-quakes anymore, because we already had an earthquake"; the previous earthquake to which he referred occurred in 1934.

A POWER PACKED DAY WITH A SUCCESSFUL EVENT AND THE MASSIVE HAILSTORM.

We had an awesome experience & an awesome day, as on our open house nature also spread its blessings on us with heavy rains & such a massive hailstorm which will be remembered for long, that too in the month of April, Ice cubes were raining in speed continuously for over half an hour. Trees were shaking due to high velocity wind equal to mini cyclone. For some minutes it was scary look as ice cubes were making too much noise. Ahmedabad was never like this before.

Alarming national issue : Defence Secrets in DangerIt’s akin to contract killing of the country’s defence research establish-ments. With their easy access to classified and secret information, thousands of people working on contractual or temporary basis in India’s top secret defence projects have turned out to be the biggest threat to national security. A spate of arrests for spying has alarmed the government. But the country’s premier defence research agen-cy—Defence Research and Development Organisation—has a strength of more than 50,000 temporary or casual employees who have complete access to all its classified and research activities.

The recent arrest of a photographer employed on contractual basis at DRDO’s Integrated Test Range in Chandipur (Odisha) for passing confidential information on various missiles test-fired from Wheeler Island to his ISI conduit in Kolkata has raised the alarm bells in the corridors of the Ministry of Defence (MoD). Soon after, a contractual employee working for the MoD was picked up by the Delhi Police for espionage. The issue put South Block in panic mode and an alert was issued in March, which clearly said that ‘Contractual/ casual employees should not be posted in sensitive locations and not allowed to given access to the classified information’.

A senior defence ministry official recalled how a high-level inquiry was ordered during AK Antony’s tenure as defence minister in 2010 into the episode of giving out a critical missile design project to a private contractor by a top DRDO scientist.

Despite such cases in the past, over 55 laboratories of the DRDO, mandated to develop products and technologies to modernise our armed forces ranging from missiles to combat aircraft, have roped in over 50,000 casual employees to assist scientists. According to an insider, contractual employees are generally hired under two categories—techni-cal and non-technical.

GUJARAT : HIGH ROI BOOSTS PROPERTY GROWTH

REALTY BITESGood service is our motto

Investing is all about spotting the right opportunity. Places where big infrastructure and industrial projects come up see rapid growth, ensuring good returns on property investment and here Gujarat deserves a special mention.Gujarat has been one of the leading states in terms of economic growth for several years and has attracted a lot of fresh investments in all the sectors, including the real estate sector. There are many reasons behind it. First, the state enjoys its proximity with Mumbai, thus, enabling smooth business between the states of Maharash-tra and Gujarat, as well as with other parts of the country. Second, the state is very well-connected to other parts of the country through airways, roadways and railways. Third, the state is moving at a rapid pace of devel-opment with the improved infrastructure of the city. Last but not the least, the construction of new shopping malls and complexes, multiplexes and other entertainment centres have lured the investors from all over the state and the country, including NRI Gujaratis.

Overall, Gujarat in general, and Ahmedabad and Vadodara, in particular are seen as good property investment destinations as the Return on Investment (ROI) is very good here as compared to other markets like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore etc., where huge investments are involved but ROI may be not be very good. The two cities are still growing and have lot to offer in terms of realty market.

It Is Believed That Gujarat Is A State Where Making Property Investments Is Safer Than Investing In Gold. Read On To Know How...

AGRA: After unseasonal rain and hailstorm caused heavy damage to their crops, over 100 farmers in Uttar Pradesh reportedly died of shock, just in the month of March. Seeing this worrying trend, the Agra Institute of Mental Health and Hospital has opened a special ward to treat farmers suffering from depression and suicidal tendencies.

"We have started a special clinic keeping the problems of the farmers in mind, which will be open daily, to counsel farmers and treat them," says DM Rathore, the Medical Superintendent at the Institute.

A team of doctors will also visit the affected villages to reach out to those farmers who do not make it to the institute, in an attempt to motivate patients to seek treatment.

The institute says since the ward opened, the number of patients has seen a 33 per cent spike, most of whom are farmers who have lost their crop and are in heavy debt, in desperate need of counselling.

The institute's director Sudhir Kumar says a two-fold treatment method is being followed. "For psychological ventilation we hear them out first. Then comes supportive psychotherapy in which we try to work on positive aspects of their person-ality and discourage the negative traits," he said.

55-year-old Mahadev, who lost his six acre wheat crop, is one of the many seeking treatment at the newly-opened ward. He says crop loss has left him feeling lost.

"Nothing of my six acre crop was left. I'm undergoing a lot of anxiety and unable to sleep at nights," he said.

Over 95 lakh hectare crop have been destroyed in Uttar Pradesh alone by unseasonal rain and hailstorm, according to the state government.
