American come from diverse backgrounds and this is why we have so many different kinds of architecture embellishing our homes.  One way to ensure happiness is to match the style of home you buy to what you admire – that way, you should always feel happy when you return home.

2 Cape Cod Homes

These are essentially single story bungalows, but with central peaked roofs over front doors and shutters on the windows. They may have extra bedrooms in the roof too. This style represents the needs of early Cape Cod fisherman who lived harsh lives in an exposed climate. These days, they are regarded as chic.Colonial Style

The colonial style mimics the Georgian period when the Englishman’s home was still his castle. This is why the living space in on the first floor and the overflow bedrooms  are on the second. They make great homes for larger overflowing families and their guests.Tudor Homes

These are modeled on the lifestyle of the English countryside in times of peace. They have gables and mock half timbered stucco walls. Windows are tall and so are ceilings as was the fashion them. Archways add interest. This style suits larger properties adjacent to open land.

3 Victorian Style

In Victorian times, the British nation was prosperous and they reflected this in homes with ornate ceilings and stained glass. If you can get your hands on an original, you are fortunate, because many have been gutted of valuable details like fireplaces and original ceilings.
