All day Monday there was freezing drizzle so that our vegetable garden area and fruit trees were clearly outlined. Shortly after dark power was lost.

The Next Morning

The sunlight coming through ice covered trees created an exotic land which pictures cannot capture. With no power all was quiet except for the cracking of tree branches and nature’s songs.

Snug as a bug in a rug. The morning after power was lost.

The ice cause 8 large trees to fall. These giants were nearly 60 ft tall.

It is hard to imagine anything powerful enough to snap trees that have a diameter of 24-36 inches.

Several trees were uprooted rather than having been broken

5 Days later a crew from North Carolina released the power lines from the trees and restored power.

We seldom recognize our blessing until they are lost.
