Establishment of RTKC
Realizing the need to upgrade the existing testing services and facilities and capacitate its human resources in the region, RTKC Nepal was set up at CRT/N with support from Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (GACC) led by United Nations Foundation (UNF)
Vision: Self sustaining Regional Cookstoves Testing and Knowledge Centre (RTKC), Nepal with fully equipped and trained staff to provide most reliable service to clients (National/Regional)
Mission: Improve technology, communicate performance and promote sales and adoption of clean cooking devices
Centre for Rural Technology, Nepal (CRT/N)
Capacity Strengthening by RTKC Better testing facility and infrastructures
Enhanced testing services Latest testing protocols and practices employed Wide range of performance parameters covered (emissions and safety
in addition to thermal efficiency, firepower, specific consumption rate) Better understanding and more accurate assessment of stoves
Increased role and responsibility in cookstove sector Increased collaboration with national agency and relevant organizations Capacity development of sector workers Initiatives for development of national protocols and standards for

Raising awareness about testing of stoves
Centre for Rural Technology, Nepal (CRT/N)
Feedback on design and safety(i) The stoves tested by RTKC are evaluated and reported on
a number of parameters to determine their overall efficacy
(ii) The stove developers are provided feedback on performance of stoves and probable improvements in design
Centre for Rural Technology, Nepal (CRT/N)
Feedback on design and safety(iii) Safety evaluation is
an important component of test reports-The stoves are assessed on multiple factors like shape, stability, obstructions, heat flow.
Centre for Rural Technology, Nepal (CRT/N)
Providing Independent Third Party Results for Marketing Results and detailed assessment of stove tests are forwarded
to the clients
On approval, this information is shared with other partners/ stakeholders during exhibitions, stakeholders meetings and similar meetings
The stoves developed by CRT/N (RTKC Nepal), however will be verified by other similar organizations to avoid conflict of interest
Efforts are underway to gain national recognition and authorisation for stoves' tests results and assessment from RTKC Nepal
Centre for Rural Technology, Nepal (CRT/N)
Providing Independent Third Party Results for Marketing As of now, RTKC's Test Report and feedback has been the basis for
promoting the tested stoves in projects Improved Cook Stove with Carbon Finance (ICF) Piloting of Rocket Stoves for Reducing Carbon Emissions and
